Hi Lockey (at work? )
Tank's looking great m8, sumps nice and tidy. Is that a plenum in there or just a DSB?

Ziggy.
Just a sand bed at the moment, The water flows top to bottom and into the next chamber. I'm considering blocking the flow and just passing the water over the top making a plenum.
Pros
It's a natural way to remove nitrates.
Live food will be washed into the main tank.
The water level won't drop so much in the refugium if the pumps are turned off.
Con's
It's a risk, might not cope with the load. Especially if you consider that to do it right, I would need to remove the UV, Trickle Filter and Canister Filter.
Could kill some of the goodies living in the sand.
Might flood the room trying mod's while the systems running.
It also acts as a mechanical filter at the moment.
John
I will come 2 C U soon M8. White, 1 sugar.
Mick
Thanks, feel like I'm one of the family now.
