http://members.staroffice.com/www/Suk/Sandbed.JPG
The Sandbed - The walls to this compartment were initially 4" high which resulted in a slight sand overspill into the skimmer compartment. Partly due also to the return pipe going straight into the sandbed. This as you can see has now been redirected to just infront of the skimmer. The walls have now been lined with acrylic sheets 5.25" high & the sandbed seeded courtesy of MattB, Cheers m8.
The 5250 pump is set to max & the ballvalve in the pic controls the level in the overflow to midway, the excess is tee'd off to flow through the eco-cooler & subsequently my DSB.

Sump stuff - I've routed the venturi air intakes & the co2 supply (blue tubes) through the wall to an outside enclosure yet to be built, this will house the co2 cylinder.

Two pieces of my original Fiji LR showing plenty of life!

The most difficult thing I found was arranging the rockwork. I put the Aragamax in first after thoroughly washing it & letting it soak for a couple of days in tankwater. The problem was that everytime I scooped the sand away to set a rock on the tank bottom it just gave off clouds of silt & I couldn't see bugger all!!
I had my pumps running & even covered the outlet with filter wool which helped to some degree, but even so it took half a day to get the base rocks in & a couple more to build the reef.
The next problem, after the corals & fish went in was the flow from the returns making a mess of my sandbed creating sand dunes all over the place. I eventually sorted that by directing the flow over the rocks.
Things are pretty stable now & parameters good, just wait till I get my calcium reactor online! http://www.ultimatereef.com/ibv3/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Nice complement of stock there mate. How's your Leopard Wrasse doing? I saw one yesterday and was impressed, but I've read they can be fussy eaters . . . ?

Hi Preds,
I've had no problems with the Leopard Wrasse, I put him in initially to control a small outbreak of planaria. This he dealt with in a few weeks & ever since has been happy just pecking at the pods etc..
I think if your tank is reasonably mature with plenty of critters, you should go for it. He's an atractive fish & always on display.
Cheers
