The tank is 1.85m long, 1m high and 0.7m deep. It will be lit by an arcadia series 3 pendant (3 x 250w). I have a 4' tank as a sump. There are two 30w uv's, two 300watt heaters. At the moment I have a 'Beast' protein skimmer which I know I will have to upgrade fairly early in the tanks life. I intend to keep whatever frags I can get hold of. I am good friends with Martin (acropora on this board) and will be guided by him.
I hope to control circulation by using a large pump and switching flow to different areas of the tank using solenoid valves. pipework has been set into the walls so that top up water and salt water can be stored in the loft and added using solenoid valves. A connection to the drain has also been made to allow easy dumping of water during water changes.

Water changes, top up and circulation will be automated using a pic microcontroller (16f84).

The cabinet is made from stainless steel box section clad with standard MFI cupboard doors (looks much nicer now)

I have been keeping marines for about eight years but this will be my first reef tank.

I haven't bought any fish for a long time as I have been extending my house and I have been a bit busy. At present I have a common clown, yellow tang, lemonpeel angel, cleaner wrasse and a big French angel who is my favourite. I have tried quite a few fish over the years including a wimple fish, mandarin fish, harlequin sweetlips, coral beauty and a shoal of yellow tangs. I think the most interesting inhabitant was a huge red legged hermit crab The shell was about five inches long. Most of the fish I have now are at least five years old and the clown was one of the first fish i bought.

my french angel is one of my favs too, he has grown quite a bit in the time i have had him, he is still in juv colours and is soon to start his change. my fav fish are triggers though i just love the look and the way they lay on the side, mine scared my mum when i was away she thought he was dead cos he was on his side under his rock. anyway hope everything goes to plan for you
