View Full Version : Just to say hello
Hi everyone,
I am new to the board and to the hobby and could really do with some help with my proposed set up. I know that you all probably get fed up with people like me coming on here asking questions so I have been checking the old posts to get some info but there’s nothing like a bit of reassurance.
All the Best
Phil
Welcome Phil, afraid i prob wont b able to answer ur questions but im sure theres plenty of ppl on here who will.
Thanks for the welcome Paul,
I intend to keep soft corals with some inverts and perhaps a pair of clown fish if I could.
My proposed set-up is as follows
I have a small tank that is 36W 24H 15D (about 60gal) on a nice cabinet with hood, under the cabinet I have another tank that I have portioned into 3 sections to be a sump 28x15x12.
The main tank is already drilled at the back for an outlet and inlet and I have some of the pipe / fittings (ABS), I also have 2 ehiem 1060 pumps that are used but seem ok.
I have a single arcadia MH lamp unit that has had a small amount of use but I would not be able to incorporate this to the lid and the other half says she does not want the MH hovering over the tank : ( so I have already obtained 2 actinic lamps with fittings etc but realise that I may need more light.
Other bits I have are as follows
Vecton 15watt UV unit that is working but do I need it?
150watt heater
some test kits for marine
Large bag of coral sand (25kg)
2 large bags of salt mix
1 small bag of live sand
2 section RO unit
I have a Skimmer ( the beast) but I have been told by a shop that it is no good so would like some help (I was told to buy a T1000 but know nothing about these or any skimmer)
I am being treated buy my other half as its my birthday soon and she says she will buy me some Live Rock and a skimmer : ).
Any help or guidance is well appreciated.
All The Best
Phil
p.s. I will try to post a couple of pics
