Well i had a bit of spare time so i made my hood (Reminds me of westdrayton andy) it's just conti board cut to size and then fitted around the tank its cheap and chearful cost £16.52 had everything else B&Q cut to length with there timber saw and they normally charge but just couldn't be botherd today so my lucky day....quite a simple hood still have all the Iron on Conti edging just gives it the finished off look...

and then i continued with the Stand got a nice piece of 18mm plywood and have put supports in and although i know i'll recieve Criticisms for something its strong trust me ...just got to treat it as well as put the side panelling on and doors not bad for an afternoon of DIY and it rained so much down here in Bournemouth Whole lot cost undr £100 and although not a proffessional job it will look good once it's finished and well i've only myself to blame if it doesn't http://www.ultimatereef.com/ibv3/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.ultimatereef.com/ibv3/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Looking well smart m8 good work.

Might I suggest put clear silicone on all the screw heads and metal fixtures as it will save any corrossion in the long run.

I made a stand out of MDF for my 4x2x2 and I had it sprayed with 3 coats of 2 pack clear laquer by a auto sprayer friend of mine. It looked like glass and never flaked.

An alternative to covering screws in silicone sealant is to countersink them, cover them in wood filler and then stain/varnish/veneer or what have you

I always used sealer as it comes out really easily and still gives a very watertight seal.

looking good, make shaw you seal those bear edges on the lid as they could blow from the moisture.
