I would like to install a sump onto my current system to house all the extra equipment that has accumulated. The tank has not been drilled and with the tank being `happy` at the moment I dont really want to get it drilled. Has anyone got any ideas of how to get the water down to the sump without too much noise?

Thanks

Peter

Probably the easiest way would be to purchase an overflow / pre-filter box, this then feeding your sump. *Obviously if your tanks already filled / stocked then emptying and drilling is not an option.

If you fancy a bit of DIY, you could always remove some water, and build a small weir out of acyrilic in one of the tanks corners, although IMO the overflow box is probably going to be the easiest route for you.

Hi peter, im in exactly the same position as you at the moment but i have put a thread up asking ppl if you can drill a tank without completely emptying it and apparently you can.
Im buying a glass drillbit in the right size asap an d am gonna empty most of my tank water into my waterbutt i use but keep most of the stock in the tank, I also have a hospital tank I could move everything into temporarily as I dont have much stock now. I also have to finish my laminated flooring under the tank so it gives me another incentive to do this.

to be honest chris I didnt bother in the end. the cost of a drillbit is about the same as getting another tank 2nd hand and building a cabinet for it so I chose that option. To be honest I would have loved to have done it on cam too (drilling that is) but my cam wont stretch down 2 flights of stairs.

see ya
