Setting up a second system in converted garage block.Curent setup is a jewel 360L with no sump. Will use this as a frag tank or something (ideas?http://www.ultimatereef.net/ibv3/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif)
Main tank will be either 6/7 ft x 24 deep by 30 high with a 4ft sump tank below to run a plenum system. Main tank- drain through side drill to pre filter chamber into skimmer chamber-across plenum to return chamber. I don't want pumps in the main tank if I can help it.
Any advice on a circulation system would be greatly appreciated without being too technical as I am crap with plumbing.
Also, thermostats. In main tank or sump ??

Any other good advice at this stage would be helpful..I want to get it right at the outset on this system.

Regards

Rather than use lots of power heads in the tank all connected to your wave maker, how about using a single pump located externally and with it's outlet going to a main header with say 4 branch connections back to the tank with a solenoid valve fitted to each of 3 branches (leave 1 without so you can't dead end your pump). Then control the solenoid valves by with your wave maker. This way you would only have some grey ABS tube in the tank

Paul,

Do you have any suggested sources for appropriate solenoid valves? I am planning a new system soon(ish) and was initially thinking of going for a two closed loops alternating but solenoids may be a better option (no turning on and off of pumps).

Cheers

Try Beta Valves although I'm not 100% certain they sell to the public, if not though they would be able to give you a local suppliers contact

How about something like this
