I have a spare seaclone skimmer, fluidised sand bed, internal filter and various powerheads just lying around gathering dust. Can these be used for anything useful for the tank, kalkwasser, phyto etc. etc. Not to bad at diy and dont mind if I mess up as the kit is doing nothing anyway.
Any thoughts as to what they could be used for?
Cheers

Les how do you switch your stirrer off and on through a set of Hornby railway points ? http://www.ultimatereef.com/ibv3/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.ultimatereef.com/ibv3/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.ultimatereef.com/ibv3/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.ultimatereef.com/ibv3/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.ultimatereef.com/ibv3/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.ultimatereef.com/ibv3/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Les while I am in a daft mood, if you use a wiper motor from one of the new citroens (you know the ones that turn them selves on when it starts raining) you could wire it to switch off like a level probe if your putting to much kalk in, just a thought http://www.ultimatereef.com/ibv3/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif http://www.ultimatereef.com/ibv3/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Darryl Quote "Les how do you switch your stirrer off and on through a set of Hornby railway points ?" Now wouldn't you like to know. http://www.ultimatereef.com/ibv3/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif The stirrer runs, sorry turns constantly. The RO feed is supplied by a System2000 level control and a digital electric timer programed to only supply the RO during the night. Oh! and don't forget the pair of Val's old knickers and an old washing up liquid bottle . http://www.ultimatereef.com/ibv3/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif Les http://www.ultimatereef.com/ibv3/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/devil.gif

Les, out of interest do you run the System 2000 unit on the timer or do you have the timer wired between the System 2000 unit and the pump ? Hope that makes sense http://www.ultimatereef.com/ibv3/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif.
Mike.
Mike, I have the timer between the System2000 level control unit (so power is going to it continiously) and the dimmer switch which in turn feeds the Scalelectrix transformer that feeds the pump. http://www.ultimatereef.com/ibv3/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif Les
AHEM!! back to the original question guys!! http://www.ultimatereef.com/ibv3/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
The fluidised filter makes a GREAT rowaphos reactor - i think thats what most people use them for these days
Hope this helps
