Is it better to use a roller or a brush when painting the back of the tank?

Given that the "inside" of the glass is a flat surface I would of thought as long as you apply an even coat that covers completely without there being brush marks showing through, then it should be fairly smooth.

Then again I guess the same could be said for a roller.

Several coats should sort it! LOL!
