View Full Version : Just starting again
Hi all,,,,,
This is my first post but ive been taking notes for a while. Im setting up a 6'x2.5'x2' with a 5'x16''x14'' sump. I kept marines about 10 years ago after helping out a friend of a friend who was in a tight spot and needed to off-load his 4footer. After being told they were pretty easy to keep I went for it. After doing some research I started doing tests and the nitrate was off the scale, it was then i realised how much was involved. Any way I could go on but wont bore you.
Now im doing lots of homework, dont want to lose anything or look silly in front of girlfriend.
Im looking at a turboflotor 1000 multi and am reading lots of good things but i am being advised to get an APF600. I know the turbo is capable up to 250 gallons quite a bit more than the APF and £30 cheaper.
Any more advice welcome.
Now Ive started im sure ill be back lots more.
PS. am mainly going to keep fish with some live rock for starters.

Ian welcome to UR http://www.ultimatereef.com/ibv3/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif C ya soon Darryl
Hello and welcome,
I have a turboflotor but 80% of peeps on here would recommend the deltec.
Both good but the deltec does get more support and probably is the way to go.
Cheers.
Craig

Hello Newboy,
Welcome to the UR.
I am running a Turboflotor and am more than happy with mine.
I have heard Bad things about the Pump, although not experienced them myself.

hiya,
Welcome to UR.com
With regards to your skimmer, I have seen both in action and decided on the purchase of the apf600. And yes, it performs well on my five footer. However, IMO for a tank your size I would not use either. Have you considered looking at the deltec 850, o.k so you pay approx 100 more than the tf1000 - but a lot of skimmer for your money. Thinking back, I wish that I had gone the extra mile when I purchased mine http://www.ultimatereef.com/ibv3/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif
Cheers

http://www.ultimatereef.com/ibv3/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif Its that old chestnut again "big is good, but bigger is better". I keep thinking about that extra mile,,,,Cheers Paul
Hi Newboy,
Firstly....welcome aboard!
Secondly, you'll have to change that name soon....cus you won't always be the new boy! http://www.ultimatereef.com/ibv3/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Thirdly, FWIW we have a 6x2x2 and run a Deltec AP850 on it. Depending upon what your stocking levels are going to be it may be worth considering the 850 now. Keep thinking about that extra mile! http://www.ultimatereef.com/ibv3/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Cheers,
