Well

Off on Honeymoon in two weeks to Thailand.

Planning on doing some travelling and getting some diving in, around Southern Thailand in Adaman sea. Heard Ko Similian is excellent.

Anyone been diving in this area ?

hi irish reefer i stayed in phuket 2 years ago and dived the similan islands best diving i have done so far it will blow your mind the similans are made up of i think about 7 or 8 islands the best way to dive them is on a liveaboard but they do trips from PATONG if you are out that way you must dive it it was rated as one of the top ten dive sites in the world !!

i also dived a lot of other unknown islands 6 of us used to go down and hire a boat for the day in CHALONG BAY with driver it used to cost about £30 - you hire your tanks and weights yourself from one of the dive shops one memorable dive was just around from where the BEACH was filmed my self and my mate were about 18m and came face to face with about 10 dolphins

diving kit is very cheap to hire

one thing that did p*** me off out that way was the number of people that were doing try dives and were walking out on to the beach with lumps of coral and just dumping it when they relised it was know good to them once it was out of the water , they seem to live for today and dont think about tomorrow !!

but over all the diving was brilliant , i have dived the red sea in 1990 and then again in 2000 in SAFAGA which just edged it for me , i have also dived CUBA , JAMAICA ,MEXICO ,TRINADAD & TOBAGO , GRENADA , INDIA AND A LOT OF ISLANDS IN THE MED

I HOPE THIS HELPS A LITTLE have a great time on you honey moon

I was in holiday in phuket in december for 3 weeks. And of course went diving *http://www.ultimatereef.com/ibv3/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Ko similian has definitely got the best dive sites in region. I went diving off 3 southern islands in Ko Similian, Hat yai yang*, Ao Karon*, Ko Phi Phi (Ko Bida nok) and Krabi. *(very cheap dives).

Ko Similian was without a doubt the place to dive. It cost £35 per person excluding equipment. But i wouldn't get a dive trip where you stay on Ko similian as there is only one main island that you are allowing to stay on. And is facilites are "very natural" *http://www.ultimatereef.com/ibv3/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif .

Other activities that i really liked was a canoeing day trip in the Ao phang Nga national park. Where you went to sea caves full of bats, through to internal mangrove lagoons inside islands. And you also get to visit the "James Bond" island the one from "the man with the golden gun". Its a cheesy but you can say you have been there. * http://www.ultimatereef.com/ibv3/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif *http://www.ultimatereef.com/ibv3/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
