Hi Lee

I suggest you go to your local scuba shop or wait till you get tp Gran Canaria before you buy. With the exception of the snorkel you really need to try the stuff on. That way you will get kit that is comfortable unfortunately 'one size don't fit all' and its down very much to personal choice and if they are even slightly incorrect they will irritate like hell :(

P.S. Don't call them flippers unless you want to look a complete plonker :o They're called fins :D

Make sure you try the mask on - there's nothing worse than a leaking mask which will totally spoil your fun! Get some advice from the shop if you need it. Enjoy your holiday!

FWIW SDS Watersports in Sheffield is worth a visit to see a very large range of goodies. Not the cheapest but ideal for trying on lots of masks etc. Top tip I came across and I've since found is very true ... take your regulator with you when trying on masks - the mask needs to be watertight with the reg in your gob since it changes the shape of your face. Even changing mouthpieces affects things which surprised me.

Trying the mask is a must (unless you get lucky) as they all fit differently and remember that expensive is not necessarily the best for you.

Isnt a flipper a type of dolphin???

Bit like a water borne skippy IIRC :D :D :D :D :D

On a slightly more serious note, is there anyone from Kent/Essex can recommend a reasonable shop to go look at kit from?

I have been told Kent Diving (http://www.kentdiving.com) in Dartford have quite a bit of stock in these days otherwise Adventure Divers in Chelmsford are Ok and Simply Scuba (http://www.simplyscuba.com) are based in Kent so they may be worth a visit.

Adventures in Diving are in Chelmsford. Their Website (http://www.adventuresindiving.co.uk) gives their address.
