Just thought I would say hello, I'm new to all this reef keeping so hopefully you will all give me some advice as and when I need it. I've only got a 36"x15"x18" tank so very small by all your standards but I suppose you have got to start somewhere. Tank has been up and running about 2 months, I started off with just 20kilos of fiji live rock and 2 percula clowns, now i've got 6 yellow tailed damsels, 20 turbo snails,10 red leg hermits and 2 cleaner shrimps. All added at fornightly intervals. Water paramaters are all fine.

First question, On friday I bought a pink tipped malu anenome, the guy at fish place said just put in a crevice on your rocks , so i did that but now it has took a liking to the front of the glass. So it isn't a great sigh, so i was just wondering how i can get it to stay in a better viewing position.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Hi, welcome to the board. Don't try and get your anemone to move unless it's in a place that will be a detriment to its health (i.e. little or no light.) It will only stress it. (All my opinion.) The normal method is to gradually peel its foot away and place it somewhere better, it may be permissible to do this after the anemone is settled in well and feeding. However, you can't guarantee it'll stay where you put it, and at the end of the day it'll just move back to where it feels best.

Out of interest, what colour are the tentacles of the anemone?

The tentacles are a cream colour wit a pink/purple dot on the end. I havn't tried moving it I was just hoping some of you would have a solution to help me to get it to stay in a nice plac to view it rather than seeing it from the back

One thing you could try is moving some powerheads. If all else fails, and providing itn has settled in well, just slowly peel its foot from the glass (very gently) and reposition it. As I say though, it will just continue to move to wherever suits it anyway. What lighting and how many pumps (what models) do you have?

If the creamy colour is approaching white, then I'm afraid the anemone is likely to die. Pale anemones are losing/have lost their zooxanthellae symbiotic algae, and so are missing out on a lot of nutrition.

Mark wellcome m8, also watch your stocking levels. 20kgs of l/r will displace alot of your available water.
