Hi all,

well, after planning a reef tank since october 2001, I have finally ordered my tank, should arrive late May. So June should be an interesting month for me.

I've ordered a 48"x18"x24" tank with 30" sump from Calico.

I've opted for T5 lighting and for filtration - I'm going to try ecosystem method. Yup, miracle mud. So if in a few months time, anyone in my neck of the woods wants to come for a cuppa and to see MM in operation, drop me a line. I'll post regular updates and photos.

Oh, and take this as a warning that I'll be asking lots of daft questions soon ;-)

I've currently got 2 freshwater tanks, one of which I'm having to shutdown to accomodate the reef tank. So if anyone wants an 8" Bronze Oscar with an attitude, or a 36" tank with eheim ecco filter, drop me a line. Frank is going to a lfs to live in a display tank over the next few days.

cheers

Phil

Welcome!!!

Another MM system. <Mr Burns voice> Excelent! </Mr Burns voice>

Again, let us know how this goes. Did Calico suggest it? I shall follow the progress of your tank with great interest...

Actually Calico were somewhat hesitant on the subject. They've never tried it themselves so therefore
stick to what they know best (allways a good approach) - i.e. skimming.

nice people, nice place. just wish I had more money ;-)

cheers

Hi Phil :D

:D Welcome to the home of reef keeping :D .

I have just ordered a 48x24x24 with sump system at the begining of this month 2 so i should get mine soon. Not opted for mm as haven't read enough about it. Just going for a normal sump system. I live in a terraced house with 3 tanks on the go at the mo 1 marine and 2 discus which happen to be the wifes tanks. I will be posting regular updates like yourself and pics. The good thing with me is i don't have to shut a tank down i have to move 2 tanks in order to get my new one in. Should be fun. Keep us posted.
I am planning to go to calico soon myself whats it like??

Graham :D

Calico is very good. They've got a lot of livestock on display, and a wee coffee shop too.
Are you north or south of Calico?

cheers

Hi Phil

Along with Clearwater in Leicster, Calico are one of the only shops I've ever visited with a decent selection of LPS and SPS corals, as well as softies and some lovely lookin fish... The added bonus of the coffee shop mean you can park you'r missus in there with a book and a cuppa... For some reason, mine gets bored of looking aroung a fish shop after the first hour...
