Just booked myself and girlfriend into a dive lodge on Bunaken Island, North Sulawesi, Indonesia (Cha Cha dive lodge (http://www.bunakenchacha.com/)) for two weeks next month.

Flights were good value (nobody travelling because of SARS/Bali bombings etc.) I have done my research and not only is North Sulawesi the safest part of Indonesia, I reckon it is much safer than London. Just don't look at the foreign office guidlines...

Looks like a fantastic spot though - anyone been there?

Just contacted the bloke directly - there's an Irish guy called Raf who runs it with his Japanse wife.

I know that Divequest can organise the whole thing, but it worked out a little more expensive, and less flexible. Just got my local travel agent to get the flights to Manado.

Off tomorrow! I must go and pack...

I dived from Sulawesi a couple of years ago and stayed at Tasik Ria. I had a great time and on a couple of the trips I was the only diver on the only boat on the reef! The service was remarkable - I did not have to do anything for myself, my gear was prepared and lifted up for me, all I had to do was check it out, and coming back I just slipped out of the BCD in the water and they took it all aboard and set up for the next dive. Wonderful. The guides were good, safe and knowledgeable.
