First off hello everone, Im just getting into this fishy lark with lots of help from Daryl from "Animal House" near Leeds. So far Ive fgot a small tank 36x12x15 (first mistake :( ) , Ive also got 2 heaters 2 filters a protein skimmer and all the other usual stuff I need. My question (finally) is this :- I washed my sand substrate in tap water 5 times this week, and then put it into the tank. I have now got some water (it helps so Im told) but the water is really cloudy with bits of sand I presume. Have I done this right ? Should I leave the filters on to clean up or should I let the water settle first ? When the water is clear Im adding some cycle to start things off. Thanks for any help

Regards

Adrian

it should settle shorlty, wouldnt worry much... did you use ro water? also are you going to be adding live rock, if so it might be worth leaving the filters empty and just using for water polishing i.e. getting the bits that float around the tank... or for adding carbon and roaphos.

What type of filters are you using? And what type of setup are you going for? Fish only? Reef?

Bit more info helps us get a feel for what you want to acheive...

Thanks,
