Guitar Shark

Some of you may remember I wrote about a guitar shark I encountered on holiday while snorkeling.I only managed to get pics from the coffee shop balcony.Here Is an underwater pic of the same fish taken by an italian guy I met there.He has just emailed me the pic this am.Huge fish,the remora you see on him was about 2ft in length

Seen a few of these on dives in the Red Sea
Dead placid- you can pick them up from the tail end before they will think about moving

Though they are obviously sharks in the strictest sense- they seem more aligned with rays in their manner and temperament.

cool fish though!

Be a hard thing to fit in the average reef tank! :D

This fish was constantly cruising along with his attendant remora and two pilot fish.Never saw him stop once.And boy could he move whe he wanted to.When he decided to leave the lagoon he was gone in a flash and if you were anywhere near you could feel the shock wave.Placid as you say but still a scary experience when I first literally bumped in to him in the water.The sheer size and bulk was enough to make my heart flip.But an experience I would not have missed and will allways remember.
