If you are creating a shock wave detected on Navy Sonar, you are descending too fast.
If you dig a trench hitting the bottom, you descended too fast.
If you pass a free-falling mushroom anchor on the way down, you are descending too fast.
If the workbarge sinks when you hit the end of your tether, you are descending too fast.
If your deco computer displays "What the $%^& was that move?" message, you are descending too fast.

Not for the kids but very funny http://www.pathcom.com/~bracuk/RecScuba/Pa...HandSignal.html (http://www.pathcom.com/~bracuk/RecScuba/Pages/HandSignal.html)

Not being a diver, I'm not in Sync  with the humour, but what is a mushroom anchor

Usually I try and stop before I hit the seabed....

Sometimes hitting the bottom hard is nice- you only need to have been at the bottom of the Firth of Forth at 40 metres in complete zero vis- having only expected to hit bottom at 30 metres to understand what I mean!

Have never dived in UK waters, my other half has a severe aversion to the cold....
