Will you have corals suitable for a low flow over the next few months? Lagoon corals?
I wish that I had a reef tank. But, I have what I have and there are no more sockets. Lagoon is OK of course its just that the lagoon LPS are hard to find except Fungia and I can't get seagrass either. The plus is fish-only stocking levels, as a consolation.

Just the say that I received a frag from Clayton in the post yesterday and was well impressed with the frag, its condition and the packaging. :D :D :D :D :D :D
Hello marine Aquarist. Can you tell me anything you had in mind? Stylophora pistilata can be found in lagoons, i am sure there are many others. What are your tank parameters?
The only LPS I have ready for sale now is the E. divisa.
HTH
And the E.divisa is well worth having!!!
It is a gorgeous fluorecent green. The best colour I have ever seen in one of these corals!

I am thinking of Duncanopsammia and Siderastraea, especially. Also, more dark coloured lagoon-type Montipora as well, while my first fragment hasn't made it too well. This is partly because of too much superglue on the colony when the fragment broke. The second fragment, though, does seem to be doing ok, and is turning light green under the light.
Is this aquarium suitable for Stylophora pistillata? I think this species requires medium to strong current doesn' t it?
At present I am having a little problem with flow in the aquarium, and things aren't as they should be. But, when it is sorted the flow is two maxijet 600 powerheads in a 22 gallon aquarium and the lighting is three 30 watt tubes (one of them actinic and the other two daylight). The tubes are not T5.
I have a 4 inch substrate and I run 250 ml of Rowaphos and Polyfilter all the time. Plus, the skimmer and biowheel and the two internal filters running biological filtration.
The pH reads at 7.7 which means 8.1, the temperature is 25 degrees C, phosphate, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate are all under control and I aim at a sg of 1.026 but it is usually slightly higher. I also aim for continuous feeding for the corals but this may do more harm than good with few fishes and corals. I feed the corals with baby brine, marine snow and also phyto.
I do numerous water changes every week and all water used is now RO.
Present corals are Montipora sp (probably just one fragment surviving), Physogyra lichensteini (probably dead for ages through brown jelly disease, but still appears to have some remaining tissue so not removed just in case), Fungia sp (seemed to die under the metal halide but is regenerating), Nemezophylla turbida (not expanding like it used to at first, but more than it has done for ages) and Actinodiscus nummiforme (one colony bleached recently during the heat, another is thriving).
So you see that I want to properly stock the aquarium with corals now that the heat is over to make up for the losses so far.
Other organisms are a prawn goby, Turbo cf viridis, Trochus cf lineatus, Conus sp, Ophiocoma cf scolopendrina, a pistol shrimp and peppermint shrimp, Caulrerpa prolifera, Caulerpa racemosa, Chaetomorpha sp and Halimeda sp, and I use one species of Caulerpa for nutrient export.
Hello Marine Aquarist, I am sorry but I cant recomend any of the species of coral that I am farming for your tank, in fact I am having trouble thinking of any that would be ok. The trouble is the very low lighting, of the photosynthetic corals you are going to have real trouble keeping any. Perhaps some of the tooth corals will be ok if you give them supplimental feeding. It is possible the E.divisa might be ok if you feed it but I have never tried this myself. Can you not get any more lighting?

"I am sorry but I cant recomend any of the species of coral that I am farming for your tank, in fact I am having trouble thinking of any that would be ok"
The lighting is OK for the fox coral and the mushroom anemones, and it is raised above the level of the aquarium by over 12 inches at that. I was advised to use three tubes on the board after a 250 watt metal halide caused problems. Since four is used for medium light species, three should be enough for the low light turbid water species.
It is a very specialist aquarium and I have had trouble finding supliers of the correct corals and of seagrass (I even tried to import some seagrass from the USA). I have all but given up on most of the corals and I have given up on the seagrass. Im not really surprised that you don't have suitable corals.
"Can you not get any more lighting?"
What light would you use for my community in my aquarium? Would you replace the actinic with a 50/50 tube?
Hi,
Just wanted to thank Clayron for the frags I got! Superbly packaged and all were well happy when placed in tank! Only one slight problem when the mithrax didnt like the positionin of one of the euphilia - all sorted now and thanks
Brian
Marine aquarist, the only things I can think of would be tooth corals (fox, plerogyra, euphillia, physogyra etc) that you can give supplimental feeding to, ricordia, button polyps, zooanthids, blastomussa, you could also get away with other soft corals I would imagine.
If you cant add more lighting or put on halides then I would change the actinic to white as white has a higher output.
Hope that helps.
Just received a couple of frags from Clayton:
Euphyllia divisa
Montipora foliosa.
both are now in my tank (after acclimatisation) and have polyps fully extended - v. pleased with them. The Euphyllia has a beautiful metallic green tint to it.
Packing was excellent and they arrived first thing this morning (sent yesterday).
Anna
I got some from him today too (9.30) Montipora digitata, Montipora foliosa and Xenia elongata. All live and kicking :)

Received mine as well, got to say the best packed frags I have ever received, well done Clayton, fantastic, very pleased.

Hi folks, just a note to let you know that the Euphillia divisa that is listed is actually Euphillia paradivisa. Sorry about that, just got veron so should have some better i.d's all round.
Happy reefing
Clayton
Hi Clayton,
Received corals today, well packaged and all well. The Euph. is very nice.
Just wondering, the monti fo. is a light brown, is there any way I can get it like the one in the pic you posted (i.e. a lovely blue) or is it just a brown one you sent me.
Mike
Hi Mikey, glad you are pleased. The monti foliose is not really blue (does it look blue on your monitor?) but it will vary from green to beige according to your water chemistry and lighting.
Happy reefing
Hi Clayton,
Did I say blue I meant green. If the the thing's got the 'potential' to look like the pic then great. Any tips or links on conditions that facilitate this?
Thanks
Mike
Hi Mike, the parent colonies in my reef tank are very green, they are under 250w 10K halides, water parameters are all standard and as they should be. The frags are grown under a much redder wavelength of light and this may have something to do with it, good positioning under your lights should encourage the green colouring.
HTH
Mine has now changed from the initial beige to the green , and a lovely shade it is to!!
Ginac
:D
how long have you had it ginac ?

End of August and by the end os September it was just beginning to change. It's now fully green.

They were in prime condition and superbly packed.
Thanks Clayton! :D . Please let us know when the hystrix and purple foliata are ready.

Hello Clayton,
Are you still at London Aquarium? I'm asking because my daughter bought me a couple of tickets for my b'day (she thinks she's coming with me - she's not tho' - i'm going twice ;) ).
Anyway I wondered if, during this visit, it might be possible to purchase a couple of your impressive-looking corals.
Ta,
Liam
Hi Liam, I really prefer to send them mail order, otherwise i am based in bromley and visits can be arranged.
As a last resort i may consider taking stock into the London Aq.

Hi folks, I have a new Montipora ready now, i believe it is m. undata although i anm not 100% sure of that. You will find a pic and details at the front of this post.
:)
Hi folks, orange m. digitata is ready now as well. Sorry the picture does not do the colors justice. Pics and details at the front again.
Have just recived my corals this morning in the post...
and i have to say a big credit to Clayton they were superbly packed in a tube with polystyrene and then in little plastic jar's with poly cap's and wrapped in Foil like what the marathon players recieve at the end of a race....Very Pleased...N
I also recieved my corals this morning from Clayton, packed the same as Narthurs. All now in my tank. Thankyou Clayton i will be ordering again..
John.....
Thanks guys, glad you like them.
The packaging took a while to sort out as everything is specially made.
For those that are wondering if the packaging is good enough to maintain the corals, each coral is placed in a plug inside an acrilic pot with a screw down lid. The plugs are positioned so that the corals cannot come in contact with the sides of the container.
The pots are then wrapped in a special insulating foil that reflects back 80% of heat. This is then inserted into a thick walled tube and packed around with poly balls and a heat pack is added.
The corals are ok in this for up to two days! The packaging is so good that I only needed to start using heat packs in November! So far out of hundreds of frags sent none of those that were delivered on time were lost. (the only losses came during the RM postal strike when some orders were three days late.)

Hi folks, just like to say thank you to all of you for your possitive comments and encouragement about the corals. I am glad everybody is so pleased.
I am setting up another system so soon there will be even more species available.
For now there is a species of echinopora that is also currently available, I will put up details at the front of this post again.
Happy reefing.
:D :D
Nothing there yet Clayton  Also some of the pics of frags are not appearing, just some red crosses :(
Keep up the good work
Stevie
Hi Steve, it will take me a couple of days to get the pic of the echinopora sorted. All the others should be up though, can you not see them?
Hi Clayton, there are a couple of pictures not showing; montipora undata and sacrophyton trocheliophorum.I dont know if there should be one for orange montipora folosia or not as I cannot see a user posted red cross image.
Stevie
Hi folks, sory for the delay with the details of the echinopora and pics of that and the others that need replacing, I will get it sorted ASAP. In the meantime the echinopora is available, just email if you want more details.
Happy reefing
Hi im intersted in some of your frags but im not sure what you would class as medium - high light. My tank is a smallish 175liter with 2x55w and 2x36w t5's. Are any of these listed suitable.
Metalic green Euphillia paradivisa ,Orange Montipora digitata, Montipora foliosa, Beige/green, Capnella.
Thanks Jon
Hi John, that lighting level would be considered low to medium. The corals you listed would be ok (sps should go high up).
All the corals are available unless otherwise stated.
Happy reefing
Hi folks, sorry for the late replies to your emails and pm's but I have been away for a week, everything is back on schedule again and I will have some new species being added to the list over the next couple of weeks.

Echinopora lamellosa is now available as well. Please see page 1 for details and pic. :D
Hi Folks, Pocillopora damicornis is now also available, I will get pics and details up ASAP.

Hello Clayton nice selection you got there i was just wandering what corals from the above list i could have in my tank the lighting is 4 x 54 watt T5's
p.s is payment just by check or can i use paypal
thanks in advance Billy
Hi Billy, it all depends on how deep you place the corals in the tank. All of those listed will be ok if you place them within a few inches of the surface where there will be somewhere in the region of 200 micro einstiens/m2/s-1. Acro's will need the top 6", all others can be placed deeper.
PM sent with ordering details.
:)
I received four corals from Clayton on Tuesday this week and have to say i was very pleased with the way the corals were shipped, very professional and detailed info on each one. Were in my tank an hour and the polyps were out. Thanks Clayton

Long time no speak.
Not being well clued up on corals, i dont want to get into hard corals. I have metal halides but none of the calcium kit. Not even a sump, purely an internal and external filter using LR. No algae,
CA is at about 380, po4 is 0, nitrite is 0, nitrates at about 25, ammonia 0, ph at 7.8/8. SG at 1023.
Therefore what soft corals would you recommend that u have. I've attached a pic to give you an idea of my tank and its current contents. I'm looking for colours apart from brown.

for those in the know, do you leave your corals attached the little bit of plastic pipe, then secure that pipe into your rockwork, or do you remove the plastic pipe?  :whistling:
leave it in there - but if it becomes seperated then thats OK - you dont want to damage the corals by trying to take it apart!
clayton.
when will the Montipora foliosa (purple) be available
;)
Hi Rhiannon, it is available. :-)
Most species of the coral totally encrust over the plugs which are handy to fix down. Or you can prize out the pilliput or sqeze the sides of the peg with pliars and it will pop out.
Only just noticed this thread & website link. Nice selection on the web and fantastic prices. When will the paypal part be setup??
Did you know that it's extremely easy to create paypal shopping cart/buttons and you don't even have to have a paypal account to use your credit card to purchase off a website as they now accept just standard card payments.
I use this system on my own website www.andysarmoury.co.uk
Paypal is up and running on Claytons website now.
I have used it myself this week and received two very nice frags this morning. :)

I really don't mean to be rude, but £16 for a tiny piece of coral seems rediculous to me, but some of you say it's "fantastic". Why don't you pay 30 or 40 quid and get a decent sized colony?
(only asking, don't bite my head off)

i think 15 quid for the amount of work that goes into growing frags out is very cheap.
salt for water changes.....lighting....leccy...all other misc equpment that needs to be bought and replaced.....tbh i'm supprised that some frag farmers do it.
add to that the enviromental reasons....ie. not continually ripping mother corals from the wild.
i for one am trying to never buy a wild colony if at all possible.
keep up the good work clayton....when my new system is built and settled in i will be ordering from you.

I'm confused. Most suppliers to the industry sell ocean cultured corals, not wild colonies (you can tell by the obviously unnatural base which the coral is placed on). So the environmental argument doesn't wash with me.
Are there no online retailers that sell ocean cultured corals then? I'm sure I've seen them before. I thought watford did. I'll have a look around when I have time. STM do don't they?!
