I would just like to second what the others have but also to add like Craig that it looks a lot better in the flesh.

Another thing to add is the almost clinical approach to the maintainance and cleaning of the system, certainly put my slapdash housekeeping to shame ;)

I spent hours trying to spot a bit of uncleaned glass but just couldn't see any.

How's the Moorish idol getting on, are the Ocean nutrition pellets keeping him in check?

Hi All,

Thanks for all the nice comments, it does make it all the more worthwhile.
I have to add that all the 'new tank' pics were taken by Lisa Page (Only the best ;) ) & I can't thank her enough for taking the pics & putting the whole topic together. Very well done. :D

Cam - You have a pm
Preds - No probs just pm me when you're ready
Fuzed - I set the tank up mid March last year. (did you click the details link?)
Craig - Thanks for the pic m8
Ed - , The Moorish had to be removed & is now in isolation. The Table Acro has virtually healed now but wouln't have survived if i'd left the idol in there much longer. Shame really. He loves the ocean Nutrition pellets & flake but I think his pudding was the table.

Cheers

Afraid some vital details have been missed:

The two things that I always check when viewing RC tanks of the month are feeding regime and chemical supplements.

Truely fantastic aquarium, stunning to look at and I am sure the source of much satisfaction, pride and well deserved credit that I have been reading. Although I am in no doubt that a lot of hard work and cash has gone into it so enjoy the praise as it it very worthy :D .

Just one minor point please please please ignore the previous post on this thread and do us all a favour before this gets hi-jacked as per usual  .

Well done mate gives us something to aim for I must admit a little jealousy ;) !!

Having seen Suk's tank in the flesh, so to speak, it is a fantastic set up and a worthy winner of TOTM. Also, Suk's a great guy, only to pleased to give newcomers the benefit of his expertise.

Excellent tank - congrats Suk.

Hi again,
Sorry for not getting back sooner but I tried to post a reply yesterday but lost the whole thing as the board went down apparently.
Thanks again for all the kind words. I'll try to answer all the questions again & this time I'll copy first before I send. ;)

My feeding Regime:
Nothing out of the ordinary really, just a good mix of frozen fare. Specifically:

Brine shrimp - Omega-7 Hufa enriched as well as Spirulina enriched.
Krill Pacifica - My Moorish idols favorite.
Mysis shrimp.
Squid.
Whole Cockle.
Marine Mix.
Lance fish.
I feed two cubes of any of the above in the mornings. Being fairly coarse in size it get eaten quite quickly so I don't bother turning off my return pump.

Cyclops.
Red Plankton.
Fine Mussel.
A mix of all the above foods including the coarse ones. I put these into the blender add Kent Zoe, Zoecon, Marine De Lux and Cellpharms Reef Phyto.
Once blended I pour the soup into margerine tubs & freeze, this is then later broken up into suitable sized chunks.
I feed these finer foods at night just before the halides go off. I have to switch my return pump off otherwise all the particles would choke the sponges which fill my weir box.
This is also a good time to feed my sump which usually gets some pellets or half a cube, the worms etc.. go crazy....
I leave the skimmer off for an hour or so & just have one circulation pump running in the tank at this time.

Ocean Nutrition pellets - 2 types.
Ocean Nutrition flake.
Kent pellet food - Carnivore & Herbivore.

The Cellpharms Reef Phyto comes in little dropper bottles of super concentrate. This has to be kept frozen.
I make it up by filling a Kent Phytoplex bottle with tank water, add 9 drops of concentrate & shake. This can go straight into the tank or kept in the fridge for later use.

My Sun Coral gets target fed once a day using a turkey baster, it's a good idea to give the shrimps something prior to this to keep them occupied.

I also feed the Cerianthus Anemone & my Bubble Coral at least once a week with a good portion of Lance fish or Cockle. The Cerianthus also picks up whatever else floats by.

Kim - The Damsel in the pic with the Flame Angel & Yellow Tang is a Fijian damsel - C. toupou. This Damsel is relatively peaceful.

My other Damsel which is a real devil & always bites me whenever I invade his space, is a Pulau damsel - C. cyanea ?
http://www.ultimatereef.net/uploads/PalauDamsel4~12.10.02.JPG

The Ceriathus sit's in about 2"- 3" of sand & the fish stay well away from it, no fatalities yet. :D

Chemical Supplements;
I used to perform a monthly 25% water change & that was it but have recently changed to a weekly 10%.
This I feel gives less stress to the animals. I have also started adding a drop per day of Lugols Iodine.
The system is running with a calcium reactor & Kalk stirrer.

Quote from SimonH
'Nice! Amazing growth on the table Acropora hyacinthus. Puts growth on mine to shame.'
I can't believe that for a second! The growth in your tank has been phenomenal. B)
Any chance of a pic?

Cheers

Many thanks. :)

I guess that maybe the cabinet is disguising the depth of your sandbed....sneaky Deltec people !

I think that the only way I could accomodate a Ceranthus would be to build up sand locally (eg use an acrylic tray) but then I'd be worried about detritus. Sounds like you have a functioning sandbed there, which is quite a different proposition.

Glad to hear that's a Fijian. I am looking for a well-behaved version of the common yellow-tail. This is a candidate already, the photo really makes me keen. Just one ? The Pulau does have the "Devil's eyes"....

As for your feeding being "nothing out of the ordinary" well, it's better than I get. :(

Thanks again, :)
