Hi Tim,
Lovely tank m8, a credit to your diy skills. What's the output from your reactor btw?
Sorry to hear about the Hystrix, if you need some frags give me a shout.
Your Red Goni looks fab too, does it get any hassle from the Clown?
Keep up the good work.
Cheers
:D

nice healthy looking tank.
well impressed with the diy equipment, adds that did it all myself touch of satisfaction.
whens "timtec medic" gonna start.

Bonny,
Judging by Tim's list of inhabitants I'd say it was his Urchin - at least I hope that's what it is
Anna

Tim thanks for previous advise in the past, real shame that pink hysterix died on you it was a beauty and was hoping to get a frag one day.Tank is so clean and looks impeccably kept, and the initiative you've taken DIY just show's you don't need to spend a fortune on equipment to get the same good results...well done..nic :D

Not detailed plans, but info on the pinwheel mod.

Reactors output is currently 36KH. It can vary though from about 30 - 48 depending on the water drip rate which needs tweaking every now and then.
The clown treats the Goni like an anemone and the goni seems fine with that.
I've got some hystrix frags from previous cuttings and these are fine, so just need to grow on. Thanks for the offer though.
Bonny2
Anna was right, the black thing is an Urchin
Shaun
"Timtec medic" ;) LOL
Reefclown
I do run carbon occasionally - its as and when I remember though as opposed to any set routine

Your 36x18x18 probably has a similar gallonage to my 40x18x15 and my powderblue is fine. I can see though that they would benefit from a larger tank.

Great tank!
If my new setup looks half that good I'll be chuffed.
A very nice clean setup. A well deserved tank of the month. I am just wondering how you manage to keep the tank looking clean? :D
Stunning tank Tim- good balance of hard and soft corals.
Do you have any problems with the clown (digging or aggression)
Haydn
Sahin
I need to keep the glass clean in the usual manner. The rest is cleaned by snails and hermits. Having said that, I still have hair algae problems in the shadier corners I would love to be rid of. Difficult to target though when the cause is unknown - no water chemistry problems, just need to find the right thing to eat it.
Haydn
The clown is quite bossy, but not so much to cause a problem.
Yes, he does flap the sand everywhere with its tail. I presume to stir up bugs in the sand to eat - can't see any other reason for it unless he just knows it annoys me.

how big is ur powder blue and how much did u pay for it
did u have any white spot problems.
how old was the tank when u added it
Tim
Looks great , especially the Goni. Also the urchin is a stunning colour , is this how it looks because I have never seen one with these colours. Where did you get it from?

The Seri frags doing great that i got from you, its putting out lots of little branches
Cheers

The powderblue is about 3" and has been in the tank for several years. The tank must have been running for a number of years before introduction. However, I think the key is providing a continous supply of food and this I do using Nori in a clip. That way, there's always a supply of food to be nibbled. The tang cost £19 and no I've never had a white spot problem. I'm a great believer that white spot is induced by stress and so as long as conditions are correct, it lessens the likelyhood of whitespot.
Lloyd
Yep, that's exactly how the urchin looks. No camera/photoshop trickery. I got it from Taunton Aquarium Centre (that's where most inhabitants of the tank have come from) several years ago. Glad your seri frag is doing well - it's a lovely coral to grow.
Tim
Tim,
Absolutely wicked, you are at the exact stage that I would love to be at.
I can't see the need to spend millions of pounds and have a super complicated system but it seems to be the way that if there is something to be purchased people will always buy it.
I used to know a shopkeeper in Bristol who kept marines for many years using only a undergravel fileration system (with powerheads), an airstone and a splash of dechlorinater when he topped up. All his fish were fine.
Do you intend on coming to any of the South West meets ? would be great to quiz you on your tank !
Cheers

My original 2' tank was undergravel filtered and I also used tap water with dechlorinator. Wouldn't recommend it though. It showed me this wasn't the right way to run a tank, especially with corals.
My system is not necessarily a simple one. I've just DIYed the main parts which saves a bit of money.
I seem to miss the South West meetings, but will try to attend sometime.
Tim
Thanks Tim,
I look forward to meeting you some day.
