View Full Version : Updated Rio180 Pic
Just thought I would post an update as I have now removed the internal filter and added more live rock. Will post full tank specs and pics when I have more time.
Hi Smarkham,
Ok, I've got to ask...........
in one of you first posts your tank picture featured a Majestic Angelfish, 4 chromis, two clarkii clowns ( ) and I think I spotted an algae blennie on top of the left hand powerhead.
In this new picture there is a Sailfin Tang.
Now by my reckoning you have about a 40 gallon ish setup there - especially now you've added more live rock.
Do you really have all of the above fish in that tank - or have some been removed to make way for the tang? are you aware that a 100 gallon or larger tank is usually suggested for sailfins.
Anna
I've gotta echo Annas comments. Without sounding too critical that tank is way too small for a sailfin! Do you realise how big the teritories of these fish are in the wild? Plus, don't they grow to something like 9 inches!?
Seriously, consider getting rid of it. The last thing you need is a stressed tang getting whitespot and then it infecting all your other fish.
How old is the tank by the way?
Nath.
Yes they are all still in the tank but am upgrading to a 5x2x2 in the new year so he will only be in there for a few months at the most and i figure as he has been at my lfs in an 18x18x18 tank for the last 7 months it wont hurt him.
The tank has been running for about 7 weeks now but as I said in another post it was seeded from my nano reef with water sand live rock and 304 filter

They grow really slow... Mine which i've had for approx 5 years has gone from 2.5 " to about 5" today.. really slow! And my fish are well fed and always have fat bellies!!
Yeah most tangs are very slow growing but if its going to be a real problem then I may take him into real reefs as my 5x2x2 wont be up and running for a few months yet.
