View Full Version : Rutland
I've heard rumours of there being a Village in Rutland that was sunk to make way for a resevoir and i've heard you can dive this site does anyone know whether this is true or not...Nic
There was a number of farm buildings and a village flooded when Rutland water was built although most of the buildings were knocked down to stop yachts and fishing boats bumping into them(the top of the church is still used as the museum for the site) but because the resi is a public water supply they don't allow diving or swimming. Although I and some of our club were given special permission when one of the rescue boats lost its outboard and we went in to recover it to prevent oil and petrol pollution. Its dark you can't see more than 1-2 metres and there is a huge expance of muddy nothingness.
