tank size is 96" x 36 " x 36" + sump & refugium

300 kg mostly specially imported show rock, most pieces weighing about 15 kg - 20 kg giving it a more natural look , plenty of overhangs & caves :)

stunning and huge! - is that tank in the store? - I'll have to pay a visit soon!

BTW - getting pics onto one post..... look at the bar at the very top of the screen - its got gallery, IRC chat...and UPLOADER on it. If you click this, you can upload images. Once you have uploaded an image, a box comes up, and you will be given an address for the image. If you copy this, when you are back in the message, click IMG (above), then paste the address in. You can do this lots of times in the same message box.

Hi Neil,

What is your total fish stock? My tank is not far off of the same size, it's interesting to compare what you have.

Lovely looking tank you've got there.. do u substitute the halides with any actinics?

craigg
16-12-04, 09:31
what made you decide to go 250watt rather than 400.

Just wondering, could be a good cost cutter since I currently run 4 * 400 watters.

i really like the reflectors, seen one second hand in my lfs and it looked really nice, thought about getting it. but decided on the dl3's instead.

each of the lights has got 2 x 250 watt bulbs so ive got 1500 watt above the tank
did have 2200 watts before these but i think this was to much , getting better growth of the corals with the new ones , only problem being is that the calcium reactor is on 24/7 now to keep up with demand from the corals!
also doing 60 gallon water changes weekly with the tmc pro reef .

cuts the leccy bill back a bit as well! :)

i dont subsitute with actinics as the lights have 20000k radiums

it really does look impressive and I can see what you mean about the tangs! 70 fish eh.....looks like I may be able to squeeze just a few more in mine then ;) I'm assuming alot of food goes in that tank each day , what algea are you feeding ? How are you finding nitrate and phosphate levels ?

nitrate sits at about 5 ppm , im using a aqua medic 5000 nitrate reducer , phosphate is 001 ppm , using 5 ltrs fluidised rowa phos .
fish are fed roughly 15 cubes of mixed frozen food per day and 4 sheets of nori
whole system is backed up by a fluidised sand filter capable of 10000 ltr,s of filtration which then runs through a large trickle tower to regass it. and 2 x aqua medic twin 5000 skimmers , which means i can keep more fish! :)
