You'll all be pleased to hear everything has migrated okay.

There are a few new features available, the most obvious ones are the fast reply and warning system.

The fast reply does exactly what it says on the tin ;)

The warning function, allows the Team to warn anyone for misbehaviour. It will allow us to keep track of who weve warned. Basically if you get a 100% warning you will automatically be banned for 2 weeks. Obviously for the majority of the membership its nothing to be concerned about.

Okay, i've had a few concerns raised about this already. To set the facts straight, you can only see your own warn level and everyone has a 0% warn level by default. If warnings are given you will be notified when and why the warning was given. Hope that clears that up.

Just one more point the Windows XP skin is know longer available as it isn't compatible with this version. I will be looking into replacing it with an update version.

any questions just shout :)

The new BBS is all messed up! At least for me anyway. I am using Netscape 7.1 and its all messed up. I can see bits of coding all over the place etc. The menus are messed up etc. In Internet Explorer all is fine. But I hate IE and never use it. Please tell me I wont need to use IE... :(

Cant see the warn thingy!

The site is a lot slower now, all the icons take a while to load compared to the way it used to be.

Kd

Oh-now I can see it! (plonker I am)

May I add my congratulations Pete it looks good and (for me) is responding more quickly. Also I don't get any of those little Xs when a piccy won't load.

But I've got to ask what do you get a warning for (just so i can avoid them ;) )

KD,

Probably because you're now downloading them for the first time as opposed to them previously being cached on your machine.

When will you understand you can't actually ban anyone. People can use dynamic IP and all sorts of tricks to get by if they so desire.

Forntunatley for us the plonkers normally stand out in a crowd regardless of the method they choose to hide ;)

Good thing is were all adults here (for the most part) and should be able to conduct ourselves accordinlgy anyway...so no need to worry about the warning bar after all :)

Could we have a weekly poll, in which we vote to ban someone for two weeks ?

Sort of "Reef Idol". Could be fun.

What is this XP skin?? I run on WIN XP and I have nothing but problems getting into UR?
Bob

Additional problems. Every time that I log on, I have to delete cookies & refresh using ctrl & f5 keys to arrive at the correct last log on date & time, but I am still welcomed as a guest and have to then log on but at least the board remembers my pass word. If I try to go to my message slot I get an error message saying something like error this is not available to you. I have had to re try several times to reach this thread and add to it. Can anyone throw a light on this problem for me. it's driving me nuts.

doh, This morning I am no longer getting any error message.

Mt privacy settings are: "Custom"....Accept First & Third party cookies. The Always allow session cookies box is ticked.

I am getting in now by entering ultimatereef.net in the address bar. I am then remembered including pass word. I am also able to get into my messages, but when I return to the main board it is still saying that my last visit was at 9.10 today when in fact I have been on several times since then in the course of getting info to answer you.

From my messages, I clicked on the bulletin board line and got returned to a copy of the board that says my last visit was yesterday. Using the back button I then get back to a version that says ....last visit was this morning at 9.10.

Bob

I've not paid much attention to the last visit time - but now that you've mentioned it, it seems to record the last time you logged on in a previous session (continuous).

It's just taken me hours to get back on so that I can read tuan's comment. Previously although I could see that he had posted, when I clicked on the message I got shunted to an earlier version of the thread which finished at doh's questions to me. At no time could I see my own comments until now. To reach this state I had to remove all cookies and files from my internet connections and then it worked. The problem is that it seem's that I will have to keep doing that unless I can find the cure. Oh, by the way I got the message again when attempting to go into my messages. I think it said...You are not authorised to enter?
Bob

ps: I have just tried to return to the main forums by using the selection bar at the bottom of this page. Nothing happens so I shall try the Forum bar at the top of the page.

New one. On attempting to reply to the post on cucumbers, I got a message as follows.

The error returned was: Sorry you do not have permission to reply to this topic. Even though I was already logged in??

I therefore re-logged in and am now reporting this problem.

Doh, The board has me logged in correctly with the right date showing for my last log on. I just went to Reef's and tried to add to the thread headed "Cucumber" As soon as I clicked on reply, I got the message up telling me that I didn't have permission to enter the thread. When I used the back button to return to the Reef's page, I was not bobkat any longer but a guest and invited to log on??? I returned to the main board and entered this thread and here I am, O'K. What is going on? Help

Hi Bob, sorry for the delay :(

as an experiment can you change your privacy settings to low? as see what happens, also do you get the little no entry sign in the bar at the bottom right of your browser?

bobkat
05-02-04, 09:56
Hi doh, I have changed the privacy setting to low. What does the little sign look like and where do you mean by "bottom RH of browser" ?I'm not sure what my browser is in this context :(

I know now why I cannot always get into a thread to answer it. I just went again to the cucmber thread in reefs and got the message again and then realised that all the previous posts were dated 02 Feb and it's now the 5th. So obviously I am getting shunted to an old page instead of the current version. Does that help at all to decide what is happening?

Hi, when i say browser i mean your Internet browser which i assume in this case is Internet Explorer?

the bottom right hand corner of internet explorer there should be a little globe and the word internet. If you getting the no entry sign it will be just to the left of the globe.

its definitley some sort of local caching/cookie problem with your browser. Out of interest who us your ISP? are you using a modem or broadband?

Yep, it's internet explorer and I see the globe and there is no "no entry" sign.

ISP is Freeserve and I am on broadband.

quick php cookie checking if you wanted to include it in the site bomb out the echo "cookies are enabled!"; just there for testing

<? if(empty($enabled)) { $page="$PHP_SELF?enabled=yes"; header( "Location: $page"); setcookie("testingcookies", "yes"); } else { if(empty($testingcookies)) { echo "Couldn't set cookie. You should enable cookies in your browser..."; } else { echo "Cookies are enabled!"; } } ?>

Doh, No apparent difference. I just tried to look at new posts and got the message again. "not available to me". Got the same at the cucumber thread. it seems that every now and again when I try to enter these places, I get reverted to an older date and I am no longer logged in. but by using back button I get returned to the main board where I am still logged in.

worth going
tools --> internet options --> (In IE) privacy

then click edit bottom stuff in htttp://www.ultimatereef.net and click allow then ok and ok again to exit

that way if it IE is blocking cookies from UR you have overiden it.

tuan, Firewall: security. on. firewall. on. intrusion detection. on.

Anti Virus: Privacy control . on. ad blocking. off.

PopUp blocker: Block pop-up ad windows.

None of these have changed. They have always been set as this and UR worked previously.
