Ah a local boy...Congrats on the wedding ,but never been to cuba, But from Auf-vedersien pet it looks nice!
Hi Alpha
Congrats :)
Was there about 7 years ago, stayed in Varadero, didnt do much but stay within the confines of the " Resort " that is Varadero, beautifull beaches, did go diving in The Bay of Pigs, which IIRC was very goodd re: coral life.
Would love and probably will go back to visit Havana and travel around a bit more.
To be honest the auld memory is going and I dont recall the dive that well, but a lovely country and people :)
enjoy ;)
Brian.
I dived there about 5-6 years ago from what i remember the diving was good but primative :o I think all the seaworthy boats have been driven to Florida ;) I don't think the ones we used had been serviced since the revolution. That said the holiday was super Cuba and its people were wonderful (they couldn't do enough for us :D )
You will need to take US dollars and dollar travelers cheques don't bother with Euros or sterling.
Congrats on the wedding.

I've been to Cuba and had a great time. Never been diving there but I have been told by someone that has, that the reefs of the Cayo's are good, although you have to get a boat as there is no local house reef.
Cuba itself is very friendly with little crime to worry about, unlike some of the other islands in the Carribean that can be intimidating ouside the resorts, if not used to them. The reason for this is that Cuba is a communist country and the punishment for even a small crime is severe, especially against a tourist.
Thanks guys, will bore u with the photo's (diving not wedding promise :D )
