Hi Tony
Tanks looking great mate, especially as you've only had it running for a couple of months now. Is that a fiji yellow leather at the top left? Howz the mud sump going?
Kev
Yep its a yellow fiji leather, it has looked better, but unfortunatly it got pushed off the ledge by a turbo, before I had time to fix it in place, its looking better day by day.
The MM sump is doing well, Caulerpa prolifera took off well & quickly its reduced No3 down to zero and now theres just a trace of Po4, There is still red hair algae in the sump but it seems to be on the decline.
I'm thinking about doing my first caulerpa trim this w/e.

:whistling: It's only in my dream to own a tank of this size ;) My wife is the main hurdle in owning a bigger reef like yours
Great looking tank  I think there is potential for SPS in the near future :P .
Does you still use a skimmer for a MM sump?
Looks very nice indeeds
What sort of lighting have you above the sump
No skimmer
The sump is lit by a ASL T5 twin 36W ( x3 daylight tubes, x1 actinic )
Hi Tony
Tank is looking great, been looking at mm setups for a while now. Just a couple of questions
What flow rate do you have through the sump and how much mud is in there?
I am going to be using the method you are so i will be interested to see your updates.
good luck with the reef
hello
that looks really good
how are you getting on with the gorgonion and do you know if they need light as i have one the same and it seems to close up at night
thanks darryl

I'm using a OR 6500 throttled back a little, so I guess the flow through the sump is about 4500 lph, I actually decided to use Caribsea mud ( cost issue ), its about 2 inch in depth.. You may be aware that I had problems getting the Caulerpa to establish, this is my third batch, but its going great, very lush and multiplying.

The sea fan is a relative newcomer to the tank about 2 weeks, but it seems to be doing well, the poyps are out nearly allday , both in natural ambient light and ofcourse tank light. Not sure what exactly the species is, but according to ' Julian Sprungs coral reference' & Roy at Interfish they dont need too much light or a strong water flow through them, just enough to keep the food in the water column delivered to them.. To successfully feed these you need phytoplankton, I feed aqua-phyto every other day and use cyclop-eese.. I'm going to referece ?golden pearls, I beleive that these may also benefit feeding similar animals.
They look great dont they, a mass of yellow poyps on a rich red base, Infact looking at the picture I posted its only half poylped, I must have caught it at a bad time, Usually you have to look hard to find any red bits.I only hope I can keep it longterm.

thanks mine is doing well in my new tank that has no fish only clean up an crinoid starfish that have the same feeding habits so it should be ok
