My daughter is thinking of a diving holiday in Sharm.But would also like to visit the pyramids while out there.The travel agent has quoted £200 per person on top of the holiday cost.Does anyone who has been to Sharm know if it is possible to book the trip localy at a cheaper price. Once she is in Sharm? ;)

Yes its possible, the high cost is due the fact that Cairo (i.e. where the pyramids are) is on the 'mainland' whereas Sharm is on the Sinai peninsula, being separated by the Red Sea. A cheaper way to do it would be for her to go to Hurghada, still on the Red sea, but the mainland side of the strip of water that she will get if she goes to either Sharm or Hurghada. However, £200.00 is TOO much, theyre having a laugh at that price, I presume thats for flying, cos you canm also do overland from Sharm via Suez, but an 18 hr bus trip. Done it myself, but its a killer and Suez is the shiteiest place Ive ever been.
Locally the flights alone will be about £90.00 return and that doesnt include any sight-seeing nor overnights in hotels.

Almost every hotel package tour in Sharm offers overnight trips to Cairo...Usually in an air conditioned coach, I've not been myself but on of the couples we met on holiday did from our hotel and enjoyed it...I got back from Sharm at 2am last night, btw its fantastic!
