Ian, nice speakers there m8. B+W DM601 series 2's are they not?

I have a pair as my reference speakers for my studio/DJ booth in my attic, very crisp sound - now what I REALLY want is a set of Nautilus reference but your talking about £17500 each!!!

Oh well I can dream!

cheers

Well spotted
Was originally all 601's with CC1 centre speaker but I have replaced the rears with Mission 7 dipoles to fit more flush with the wall.

Could only just about justify buying 601's so Nautilus like you say a bit of a dream

Out of interest how does the CC1 sound? Is it similar in power, bass etc as the 601's? I am looking for a new centre speaker as a monitor over my decks and have been interested in getting one.

IMO B+W are a very under-rated speaker in all the ranges, I didn't like the mordaunt shorts I got and took em back within 2 days and the missions were nice but didn't have the oomph that the 601's have..

cheers

If there is a weak spot in the system it is the centre sound, but this isn't necessarily down to the speaker and my be more to do with the acoustics of the room. When the systemm was in the living room I couldn't fault it, as you say the B&W's dont seem to add any colouration to the sound and it all sounds very natural although they do work better when driven than at low volume.

yachting  got to be the only hobby that compares to reef keepin' in cost and effort per minutes enjoyment. by the time you've laid it up for winter, paid the rediculous fees to have it lifted, emptied all your tanks, removesd all the gear, topped up your painting etc etc etc then gone out and spanked all ya money on charts/compass/new life jackets/fender socks etc etc etc you wait all winter and spring for the weather to come around, you finally get a nice sunny day where the tide is right, the wind is good and the outlook fine, the whole family gets together, you set off, 1 hour later the wind has dropped, storm warnings come in and as usual you have to fire up the diesel, head for port and start laying it up for winter again.

nice one Scoob ,beautiful boat youve got

it all sounds a bit like the climbing and kayaking ,

by the yime you buy all the gear its 1000s , then in the "summer" you sit and wait until the conditions are perfect ,you drive 100s of miles only to find that its too windy or it starts to rain so you sit in the car looking up at the mountains !!!!!
or in the winter you drive 100s of miles to a river and discover that its too low then you spend hours running all over the highlands trying to find something to paddle then eventually head homewithout even getting wet
for my holidays i drive all over europe only to discover that theres not been good snow-fall in the winter so the rivers arent at the level they "normally" are or its so hot that you cant climb!!!!!
i even went to Nepal once only to have my kayak stolen on the 3rd day!!!!
not to mention a 3 week trip to norway where it was cut short after 3 days because 1 of my mates dislocated his shoulder and another broke his ankle on our first river of the holidays
i drove 28000 miles last year , in a landrover and they aint cheap to run
my reef keeps me in the house though , which pleases my girlfriend no end so i get no hassle ,and she reckons its the only time shes not worrying about my health!!!!!!

Scoob your right there.

If it aint the boat its the tank swallowing up the funds, and the wife wonders were it all goes :whistling:

Mind you having done the round the island race last weekend, it makes it all worth it.

8hours 52 minutes in 29 knots of wind in a sea state most cross channel ferries whould think twice about

only came 586th out of 1600+ boats....... getting a new main sail for next year (just aint figured out how to tell the wife yet  )
