Hi everyone, this is my 1st post to this forum.

I just returned from a 2 week dive holiday in Fiji, 1 week on Kadavu Island the other on Mololo Island.

I have been diving for several years, and have logged over 500 dives during this time. I have dived throughout New Zealand, Austrailia (GBR, Sydney, Coffs), The Pacific islands (Fiji, Vanautu, Tonga, Samoa) and throught Asia (Indo, Malay and Thiland).

The diving is Fiji was good, with lots of different types of diving, inner and outer reefs, lagoons, walls, swim throughs etc. The wild life was faily standard for pacific reefs, with some spots obviously different to others. We found Manta Rays, Bump Head Wrassess, Sharks, Turtles and some of the nicest soft corals I had ever seen.

Infact if I was to comment of diving in Fiji I would say that what sets it apart from other places I have dived is the soft coral. I have never seen so many, with such vibrant colour as I saw around Kadavu (the great astrolab reef).

I have a few pictures of the softies, but none turned out as well as I would have liked. I don't have a strobe and the times I took the camera with me, it was overcast or raining.

Anyway just a few snaps taken using an Olympus C5050.

enjoy.

Top photos - moray is great, as is the first shark pic. I'm assuming you have some sort of zoom lens?!

Stevey - I think all sharks can be aggressive and deserve to be treated with respect. But I think if you maintain a good attitude you have little to fear. To be honest it was still a little spooking being so close to them, I was within a foot or 2 at times and some of those sharks would be 3m long...

Ahoy - The camera has a 3x zoom but couldn't tell you if I was using it or not. The sharks were very close, could have reached out and touched them easy enough (if I wasn't so scared of them!).

Glad you all enjoyed the photos. Will send pics of Vanuatu when I return in October.
