I'm speecheless at the leccy bill thats an incredible bill, your elecy company must love you. Thats more than most peeps spend on their mortgage..Lol :)
:whistling: Nice going. I like the seemingly endless lives in such a huge tank.
 17000L is a huge amount of water
 My tank volume is only 2.5% of your volume
Hi Mark!
Tank looks goregeous as ever, have to say though lovely as the pics are you really do have to 'be there' standing in front of it... just gazing at it.. :)
I was wondering... you mentioned you treated your fish when they are imported and in quarrantine with 'TMC medicine' for a week I'm just interested to know more about this is it some kind of antibiotic or something that deals with intestinal parasites or something? I,ve often wondererd whether treating our fish for parasites etc would be a good idea after all when you keep horses, dogs cats etc they all have to be wormed periodically, of course I'm not an expert on fish biology just wondering if it would be of any benefit, as once you remove the fish from the reef a lot of different animals and possibly plants which would probably be involved in ridding the fish of these nasties are no longer present..
(Apart from cleaner wrasse and shrimp which people keep but on the whole they are only dealing with external parasites)
just a thought...
cheers
Carolyn
carloyn,
its basically a copper treatment , that has additives to kill off worms and parasites. only sold to the trade.
but seems to be good stuff
mark
Mark,
another question I wish to find out. With a L-Shaped tank, how did you do your braces at the top. Do you have a pics of that?
Nick
will add one tomorrow

Thanks Mark

Well done mate a great tank.
How thick is the glass on it?
Reason being that i'm planning a similar sized tank (4.5mx1.2x1.2) and am unsure of the thickness of glass required. Any advice would be great. I belive David Saxby also has a similar size tank, but so far have been unsuccessful in sourcing information on glass thicknesses. Hopefully you can help me out.
Regards
Marc
25mm sides and 50mm base ( floating )
mark
Thankyou Mark,
I suspected that it was going to be at least 25mm, but was secretely hoping that it was 19mm. Reason being as this is the thickest low iron glass I can source.
Do you find the 25mm quite green to look through when c/w looking through say 12mm glass? Or is the diff not noticeable?
Thanks
Marc
i would say that its not noticable , especially on a large tank with so much to see.
mark
Thanks mate.
I figured as much but was hoping for your confirmation.
Well done again.
Jesus H. Corbett, what a tank.
Lovely, marvellous............................WOW!!!
Now who wouldn't love to have something of that size. Even if we can't get the space. I know I would.
My mind is tickin over here now.
Have to sweet talk the missus.
Well done, Matt.
'ang on, just copped the leccy bill
gimme a minute I'll get back to ya bout a new bigger tank.......
yeah , my mistake was putting the thing in before i had researched the leccy
Great tank mark!
Im interested as to why you stopped continuous feeding? do you think just reducing the amount may of worked?
proberbly , but difficult to say.
unfortunatly because of the size of the system , things slide slowly and take a long time to recover. when stiopping the 24hr feeding , i did not notice any detriment to the cprals or fish , so left it until the cyno went. their was still no problems with the live stock ( including crynoids ) so i decided to revert beck to feeding twice daily.
mark
I was just curious because im trying it myself, but with only very small amounts and every hour instead of every 15 mins. Also my system is somewhat smaller!!!! 40 Gallons!
So we will see what happens.....
Cheers for the reply Mark Good luck with the system in the future

looking good as ever Mark
To echo the thoughts that have already gone a stunning tank both due to its inhabitats and construction  .
The only trouble is where does TOTM go now, Red Sea, Indo pacific as there can't be many larger and more stunning tanks in the UK  !!
The lecky bill is a real killer though :o  ! Do you think you could get away with less lighting as they are really packed in there?
If I'm ever up your way can I pop in with my wetsuit and snorkel  !!
thanks gary , hope everything is ok over the pond.
jim, welcome anytime mate. even if just looking.
i aimed for the majic 1000w/m2 so as i am just over this i would not like to take any off. also , its not just the tank lighting , i have 7 other sale tanks that are lit by metal halides , plus all the pump etc. so just removing a couple of lights would not bring the price down too much.

As I said in person the tank is the best tank I have seen to date with nothing that has come close yet.
Linving in Canada and having the pleasure to travel to see peoples tanks due to the business I can honestly say you have somehting to be very proud of.
Glad to see the Pictures turned out as well as they did.
For those of you who think the tank looks great in the pictures... you should see it in person. The picures really do not do the tank justice.
Can't wait to be back in the UK for another visit soon.

Hmmm,
Not sure this tank really deserves to be tank of the month....
More like "tank of the century"!
Thanks for being so generous in sharing your experiences with the rest of us. There can't be too many people who've not only got a huge, gorgeous tank, but also invite people to call round and see it! Maybe when I move back from Japan I come and have a look in person!
Hope things continue to grow and flourish,
Best wishes
Tom
Amazing tank  makes me realise I did right by starting this hobby, just hope partner doesn't kill me if I take things as far as you have :D
