Congratulations Tuan superb tank!

All credit to Tuan not just for the amazing tank, which is amazing in real time and meticulously setup, but also for this write up and html design. I've just had the pleasure of posting it.

Personally I was stunned and amazed to see tuan's tank as TOTM. Not because he does not deserve it but because I assumed it had already been TOTM. How can this stunning setup have been missed for so long. thankfully that has now been sorted.

Congratulations on a stunning setup.

Tuan,

Congrates to you. Definitely an amazing tank with detail planning and dedicated care in every aspect.

I love your fish combination. Very colourful & exciting :D Your BTA is a standout in your tank.

It's a tank I can only dream to have

Tuan,

Congratulations on your tank. How do you manage to control your nitrate levels with all that bio-load?

tuan

Thanks for the nice comments :)

Frogfone, I've declined to feature it before as I feel it's still quite immature as a tank then. Even now it's a little premature as it has a lot of growing to do still and should look quite different in about 6months time.

Fuzed, when fully stretched I think the cuke gets to about 3' in length! I think one reason why Ive not had probs with it getting into powerhead/streams is that its too big to support its weight on the glass. If you're keen to visit may be we can arrange something later as you've been up to CGA before? They're only 25mins away from me.

Reef2003, the nitrates are taken care of mainly by the open structure of the live rock and high circulation, plus about 36 square feet of DSB! The well lit refugium packed solid with macro algae use it up pretty quick too.

Beautiful, so natural, the fish, credit to all to reefers. I do beleve two much rock and overloaded coral is crowded look, only a very large tank makes the look you have real, and yours really does achieve this, just look at the fish plenty of room to swim and hide, you have a atoll in the making…….

Thanks for the pleasure Tuan & Congratulations.......

A beautiful tank Tuan, I admire the thought and effort you have put into it.
Perhaps you would host a Anglia reef Club meet one day so a few of us can drool over it for a while ;)
Cheers Danny

No doubt about it, one of the best tanks around, luckily you take great photo's too. You seem to have taken everything into consideration with this setup!

Makes my tank seem very disorganised. I apsire to have something similar one day.

Just to say that the thing for me that make this tank stand out from others is its depth. The different perspectives you get from having that massive 4' depth make all the difference. Would love to see it in the flesh.

Excellent stuff Tuan!

We can't have that!!!
We will need to pop into the shop, when we leave Tuan's open day, to pick up accessories, eg, fish food, equipment and especially milliput (in order to mount the frags taken from Tuan).

So I would say Sunday afternoon would be ideal. :D :D

So I would say Sunday afternoon would be ideal.
Good point Aladdin  But perhaps Ziggy and I could pop round after closing on Sunday? Although after you have all had your pick of the crop I spose it would look like hurricane Ivan had been through there :o ;)

Hey Tuan,
Great tank!!!!!!!!! How green with envy am I? How on earth are you managing to keep the emperor angel with your inverts??? I'd kill to have one, but always thought they'd eat my corals and other critters!

tuan
13-09-04, 20:33
Touch wood the Emperor Angel hasn't touched anything yet. However it is maturing into an adult so I'm not totally out of danger yet as there's one or two rather tasty LPS in the tank.

brightonreefer
14-09-04, 19:24
I was reading in www.vivaquariums.com that the current thinking - or one of them - is that emperors are ok with SPS.., so by and large things should be fine... :)

27-09-04, 06:44
Tuan, you said you dont know what the turnover of your tank is. well the streams alone produce about 24x tank turn over when on full power. im not sure what it is for your closed loops

tuan
27-09-04, 10:24
He hee.. sure it can be calculated. However, not all the pumps are on all the time with the wave/current modules, so yeah maxed out there's probably something like 40x - 48x tank volume.

Shinken
27-09-04, 11:29
Yep if your streams pulse from 30-100% They will turnover roughly 8-24 x tank volume!

Haydn
29-09-04, 14:35
Tuan- Stunning tank, I like the way you planned everthing, why can't you be more like us mere mortals and add thing on with bits of flexible pipe and extention leads ;) :D :D

Haydn

tuan
29-09-04, 20:22
Thanks Haydn, unfortunately not everything was as planned so I still ended up with extension plugs, wires and pipes running all over the place. Thank fully its all hidden behind the wall ;)

Haydn

Ohh! Tuan you've ruined the image :D so you are a mere mortal ;)

Tuan, after visiting your tank today, I'd firstly like to say thanks, for the time you gave and also for running us through the system you have there and for the frags as well

It was an amazing experience.

When we arrived, as you know, we came in through the back entrance of your set-up i.e. the 'engine' room, where all the kit and gubbins are located.

I knew we had something special to see there at that moment, but it took time to get to the display part.

When we did it most certainly was well worth the wait.

Your photos in no way whatsoever do this tank justice.

It was truly phenomenal to witness.

I was as you may have noticed gobsmacked, there was no other way to describe it.

The perspective and space achieved with this setup make it a real spectacle. The stock looks so well.
And ain't that Goby in his element in his hole in the rock buried in the sand

So far as I'm concerned a new bench-mark in reef-keeping was set today.

Thankyou once again.

Matt

Thanks Mat, you're very kind! Sorry again for rushing a bit as my daughter was having one of her demanding days.

You happened to arrive when I was in the engine room trying to move the anemone so got the tour the wrong way around ! I was a bit worried when you went quiet though! :)
