View Full Version : Finally! Pics Of My Tank
Well my new tank FINALLY got delivered today, along with the other toys I had ordered..
Here are a few pics of my new setup.
Nother pic.
Fanworm that came with one of the LR's. :D
Cleaner shrimp picture. He was posing for me.
Hi looking good.. is this setup from fresh straight away or have you swapped over some stock from an old tank just suprised to see a yellow tang in a tank that may not have cycled yet thats all other than that looking nice.. N
I had a 37gal setup for almost 5mths.. We used all the LR, the water and alittle over 1/2 the coral sand from the old tank to help seed this one. The Tang is only like 1 month out, but seems SO much happier in this larger tank.
So far the only death was the shrimp. :( Found him lifeless this mornin.
This tank is only alittle over 50USgal, as we only added 20gal of RO and all the old water from my 37gal. So far readings are normal, and salinity is actually better in this tank than my old one. :D
So basicly all we did was a large water change and added finer sand plus some live-sand to help break up some of the crud from my old sand.
Now just to remove that HUGE Boyu powerhead and replace it with a couple smaller ones. 2000Lt/hr from one jet of water is a bit much, my crabs keep getting blown off my rockwork ;)
Are you sure the shrimp is dead? It may have just shed it's exoskeleton (as they do from time to time) and may be hiding until his new 'body' has toughened up a bit...
S.
Yup he's dead. He had shed 3 times prior to this move and this was no exoskeleton. You could see his insides. We may have injured him when we tried to catch him in the net. The water may have still be a bit cold, there are a number of variables.
After the tank settles a bit and the rock re-seeds the new sand, I'm planning a trip to pick up another couple shrimp, 1 cleaner, 2 pepermint and a blood shrimp.
Then it's time to sit down and come up with a stock list.

so how much live rock is in there now?
Not sure how much LR I've got... Was kinda rushed to set everything up. But I would estimate around 15 kilos more of less... Didn't get a chance to weigh it lastnight before it got placed...

Ghst wolf you have me a bit confused.I may have read it wrong but when you say you added 20 gall of RO plus the water from your old tank, did you add salt to the RO first and bring the salinity up then add your old water the check then salinity again?
You could t off the powerhead to reduce flow into 2 different directions.
Tony
Yes. We added salt to the RO to bring it's salinity up before added the old tank water. We checked it several times throughout the day before we added any of the livestock. The highest it ever read on the floating hydrometer was the middle of the green bar. I've tested it 2 times since lastnight and it's still pretty close to the middle of the green bar.
I've got 2 Boyu sp1300 still sitting in thier boxes. I might swap out the 2500 with the 2 smaller ones. I would only be losing around 200Lt/hr flow, atleast my Xenia will be standing upright and not laying down. :D
Sorry about the shrimp, they are very sensitive to changes IME and need much longer accliming than fish, nice tank BTW ;)
