Is there a Digital calcium meter available in the UK?

If so, where can you buy one? :(

Also. What other digital meters are available. Apart from PH meters

I wish!!!!!

You can get conductivity, temp, tds, redox, oxygen and many more.

You can also go down the lab route if you are prepared to pay - and then the sky is your limit :)

I'm thinking of setting up a calcium electrode with my pH meter, but haven't had the time. Then getting something to calibrate with, probably cacl2 of known conc.

I don't know of a calcium meter off the shelf.

Interested to see any other replies.

Is there any way of testing calcium electronically. <_< Which is commercially available?

Or is there anyone who has the knowledge to design a calcium test meter. :D

This could be a hole in the market.

Any thoughts? Anyone

There are calcium electrodes available in the laboratory catalogues (circa £250 upwards IIRC). However, they suffer interference from other ions suchas magnesium and therefore are of limited use in seawater without some form of special calibration that takes account of the interfering ions.

You can also get colorimeters to measure phosphate (suchas Hach Pocket Colorimeter2). However, the typical range is not much less than hobbyist test kits due to the short pathlength used.

Of the other meters commonly available, my experience:

Temperature - essential.
pH - essential.
Conductivity - very useful.
ORP - not much use
Oxygen - not much use (actually an expensive pain as they require just the right flow past the electrode and then need the membrane and solution replacing quite often, or if sealed units last about 3 months IME)

I think I will just stick to my slaifert Calcium test kit. :(

you get between 50-100 tests.Dependant of which test you do.

Not bad on price. :D

plus It's very Accurate. :D

Maybe one day. Some one will be able to design a digital Calcium Tester.

Which is designed for salt water and takes in account for the ions Present in the water. with no interference

Which is Affordable and Reliable. for all of us.
