Hi all

I've finally got my new tank.

It's a 5x2x2.5 and a 3.5x18x18 sump.

It's not seen any water yet, maybe next week once i've finished my plumbing.

Heres a few pics for you...

Looking good, who made the tank and stand ? Will pop round to see you when it's set up.

Cheers!

Keith From Windsor Aquatics made the tank and sump. and me and my dad made the stand. I've got doors to put on (in white). They will simply clip on with magnets. (In theory).

Good luck with your setup.

Magnet door theory works, just make sure the wood you use is well sealed or it may warp a little, in which case the magnet door theory doesn't work :) What return pump are you going to use ? I think I can see an Ocean runner in the sump ! Did you decide on which colour you are going to paint the back ?

Darryl - I'm using an OR6500 for the return. and I used B&Q's Pool Blue Gloss for the back.

I have bought some Kitchen Cabinet doors from IKEA, the high gloss finish ones in white. They should look good.

Correct! No Kids, but i do have 2 very inquisitive kittens. I don't know what they are going to be like. Our other cat just sat and watched (for hours sometimes).

just make sure the halides support brackets/mounting bolts are strong enough if any of the kittens leap from the sofa to try 'halide surfing'!!!

I've filled up my tank today with test water, just to make sure it doesn't leak and my plumbing works ok.

Heres another picture.

Hi Spawns

I've got 2x 400w lowbays with 20000k bulbs up to yet, I'm not sure wether to use actinic. These bulbs are very blue anyway. I normally buy 10000k but i thought id have a change, i'm not quite sure wether i like them???

Other plans... Yes, hopefully as much sps and lps as possible. Maybe the odd softie to get started.

spoke to Keith today and will be shortly putting in an order for 5x2x2 with 3 panels in starphire. what made you go for a centre weir instead of a corner one and are you using a durso? havent made my mind up where i want the weir yet.

I would be interested in howthis works for you.I couldnt seem to get the water out quick enough thro 2*32 overflows, but mine are at the top of the tank. You might stand more chance being as yours is at the bottom.

Great setup looking very smart. How will you cope with the heat issue when summer comes as you probably know conservatories can get very warm ?

I see you have a TF 5000 Shorty will you be feeding it from the overflow or via a separate pump.

Good luck

Andrew :)
