View Full Version : Aquamedic Percula Bow Front
hi
I have an aquamedic percula 120 bow front in silver
the standard spec is as follows metal halide-star light future with 2x150w 13k bulbs suspended by 2 wickes diy metal engineers hanging brackets painted silver
percula skimmer powered by 2000 lph aquamedic pump
2 aquamedic 2000 lph power heads i used one of these to power my front bottom closed loop and the other pump to power my closed loop that runs along the back at the bottom of the tank(behind rock work)
on the aquamedic pump that returns the water back into the tank from the sump i have put a t piece on the outlet this blows water both left and right so that i get constant water movement at the back of the tank
ive added a new jet 3000 lph pump on the top of the recirculation chamber this powers the top closed loop that is attached to the rear of the tank in order to move water to the front of the tank and to create ripples on the water surface
ive added a 30w tmc uv this is powered by a project 1500 power with a pre filter to stop the quartz sleeve in the uv getting dirty and hindering the performance of the uv tube itself so here are some pictures (it may take a while to down load  )
the first picture is a full shot of the tank
pulsing and new rose tip bubble(clown heading for it but not been in it yet)
and finally a picture of my clowns
neils 2500 ltr

hi sharktale
ive sold the elephants ear just waiting for a collection date it has got rather large its touching 2 corals now when its fully out which cause the other 2 to close up thats why ive sold it when fully expaded it must measure somthing like 8-10" in diameter i have had 1 fire fish disapear though <_<

Hi All
I bought a small copper band on friday sadly today ive had to remove it :( it was dead it never did look happy in my tank always hiding then when it did decide to swim it kept shaking his head then it would stay still as if it was treading water but would go nose first with his tail pointing upwards this is the first time ive had to remove a dead fish for ages i have lost a fire fish as well but i suspect my large elephants ear has had this for a snack(because all 3 fire fish used to hover above it) i thought id post an up date on how my tank is doing

Thats a shame abot the Copperband, such a cracking fish. Seems hit and miss with these. Was thinking about one myself but was going to make the decision when the tank is 1 year old. Another 7 - 8 months to go.
Kev
hi kev
i nearly bought one in essential last weekend but a couple beat me to it they were looking at it as i walked through the door i was stood there watching it eat like a pig but they took it :( but its always hard to find one thats been in a shop a long time and eating well the one i bought was eating but not that well maybe in hinde sight i should have let it alone
:thanx: nick

Hi Scar
Your tank is looking better than ever mate, potters angel is an excellent choice in fish, had mine about 6 weeks now and the colours on them are amazing, keep up the hard work.....
cheers Jamie
 jamie
ive had it on order for about 3 weeks now but i did have to make sure that it was more or less the same size as my flame because hes been in the tank a long time and hed already seen off a small fishers but to be honest a wasnt expecting the kole to give him a hard time when first introduced yesterday afternoon but maybe it was the colours that set him off
:thanx: nick
i have also finally managed to get a stream is a 6080 well impressed with it the flow around the tank is now so much better ive got it on the left side just in front of the skimmer aiming straight at the bow of the tank then it rebounds off and flows round the back of tank its a good job ive got a bare bottom tank i can see now why it blows the substrate everywhere
:thanx: nick
potters looks a really nice fish and worth the wait nick.
your tanks looking great.
Mark
Hi Nick, just come across your tank  Looks great, every time I see potters angels I like them more and more  might see you some time at acropora or essential :)

Just a thought with the placement of your stream, With the flow coming from that side of the tank you will be stopping alott of the 'Crap' from gettting to the weir to get filtered,
I swapped mine to the other side for this reason.

Hi Nick,
Your tank looks great mate. Is that a watanabei angel in the first pic? I've got a male on order at my lfs. Just wondering what your stocking level is. I've got a similar size tank to yours and I've only been set up 2 months so starting to think of a final fish stock list now. How many fish do you have?
Regards
Sean

 for the coments
:thanx: nick
hi chris
you dont live that far a way from me maybe we might meet in a more lfs one day
:thanx: nick
hi stuart
the reason i have the stream on the left is that that the power head that runs my uv is on that side and i thought that it would stop the streams flow a little but ill try it on the other side when i buy the magnets to stick it on the glass
:thanx: nick
hi sean
yes it was a wantanabei in my picture but i recently sold it, the reason being is that it was getting a bit big and over powering for my tank
my stock list is as follows(im sure someone will say im over stocked)
kole tang
regal tang
flame angel
potters angel
2 wild australlian perc clowns
3 emperor cardinals
purple fire fish
exquisite wrasse(which ive sold)
pink spotted gobie
2 cleaner shrimps
2 blood/fire shrimps
20ish blue and red hermits
12 snails
red star fish
blue star fish
2 sand sifting star fish
I think thats it
 nick
Hi Nick. Your tank is looking good m8 in fact it looks stunning also like your new fish the potters angel, wish i could have one but i think my coral beauty would have something to say about it. I see you managed to get a stream they are awesome are'nt they i have 2 6060 in my 5x2x2 and the flow is great not too much just about right.I hope to see you some time in the future to take those item's of your hands no rush unless you want rid quick. Regards Eric.

i bought a yellow tang yesterday from acropora house settled in really well the flame hasnt bothered it only the kole tang showed a bit of interest but that only lasted a couple of minutes they now swim side by side and follow each other about

i hadnt even finished placing it on the rock when the male decided to dive bomb in it closely followed by the female all you see now is their heads poping out and going mad when another fish passes over it
