Hi Folks – thought it was about time I pulled together some info and piccies about my tank.

It’s a 6x2x2, with a single corner weir, with a 4ft sump. The tank was formerly dwindle69’s, who decided to leave the hobby around a year ago.

The tank is cited in a North facing conservatory, and of course, temperature stability does remain a key issue, although the AquaMedic chiller placed in a shaded area just outside manages to keep the summer temperature’s down.

Here is the latest full tank picture:

The next three, show the left hand side, the middle and the right hand side:

Lighting is 2x250Watt bulbs, in an Aquamedic unit. I have just changed from Arcadia 14K bulbs to CoralVue 10Ks, and I have to say, I am very pleased that I made the change. The 14k’s were just too dim. I also run 4x54W T5 actinics, plus I have a moon light, but there is probably enough natural light in the tank at night anyhow that this is not really needed.

Circulation is via 2x6000 and 2x6100 streams.

In the sump, I have a Deltec 850 skimmer, Deltec PF600 calcium reactor, Ratz Kalk stirrer and a cleartides Rowa reactor, plus heaters, and the chiller pump and pipework.

Generally, I’m pretty happy with the whole set-up, and the growth in the corals is really pleasing.

Downsides are flatworms, although there is a gradual decrease in these – maybe due to the mandarin and Leopard wrasse finally eating a few (?). The pulsing Xenia is damned annoying, and I have a bit of Cyano. The Power Blue and Regal always seem to have a touch of spot, but are growing like mad.

Thanks to all the guys in the MGTG for their help.

Fish stock is; Yellow, Regal, Powder Blue and Emporer (Purple) Tangs, Flame Angel, Leopard Wrasse, Orange spot goby, Mandarin, 4x Green Chromis, 6xAnthias and a pair of black percs that refuse to go into the Anenome (or any other form of host!)

Here’s a few additional piccies of some of the fish:

Almost too embarrassed to put this one up, but here’s the Powder Blue – spot’s and all (actually, it looked really bad that day!)

Here’s my Leopard Wrasee, if he is eating the flatworms, he’s not doing it fast enough!

Phil

Coral growth looks good since I last viewed.

You need to get a decent camera though. That cheap one you are using doesn,t do the tank justice :D :D

Thanks folks

Ref the flatworms, as mentioned, they have diminished a little lately, so am hoping the decline will continue.

I need to make some mods to the sump before adding FWExit. Once Ive done this, then I may be tempted, although then the worry comes about starving the Leopard wrasse.

James - good to see you posting again - and I hope you approve of how your old tank is being looked after

Not sure I'll be able to improve on that Phil :)

Keep us informed if you go for the eXit !!

Having had the flattie trouble before as you know I think when I setup this time I will dip all rocks and corals in eXit before putting them in the tank and fingers crossed it won't happen again

You got any more of those nice close-up fish pics ? Your Anthias is currently my wallpaper

Looking good there Phil. (definately less FW since we last spoke  )...... I shouldnt worry about the wrass when you get rid of the FW's, he'll soon convert over to normal food when he gets hungry.....

Regards

Si. :)

Si - thanks - yes I am sure they are diminishing

The Wrasse takes all food thrown in anyhow, so I guess shouldn't be a major problem
