Lenny's Reef Tank

History
I started fish keeping when I was about 12 or 13 years old and used to do a paper round to fund it.
http://www.ultimatereef.net/uploads/lenny%20(4).JPG
This was just a tropical fish tank of 30x15x15” in depth . I had all the usual fish and even had some breed and grow to maturity. Like most fish keepers it was not long before I wanted more. So off to the shop with all my fish in a bucket and I came home with four or five bags containing some fairly big cichlids which I kept for many years.

When I married, the fish came to my new home into a larger tank. After about a year I was bored with them always fighting and by now moving some large stones and most of the gravel in the tank. I was thinking of giving up so went along to a local aquatic shop.
It was here is saw my first marine tank. The fish were not only brightly coloured but seemed to be peaceful and I was hooked . Unfortunately I moved out and did not keep fish for a few years.
I started to keep fish again when I moved back to London and re-married my wife of now.
At first I was keeping tropical fish in a Juwel 400 but soon wanted to keep marines again. I went over to Crewes Hill to Home Marine just to get some salt and a few fish to get started again . When I saw their show tank with all the corals and fish together well.....................!
Before I left the shop I had parted with nearly £1200 for a new tank, sump and a few bits and bobs .
This is the tank I have now.
It is a Seabray 60x24x24” and holds about 110 gallons. The sump is 36x12x15” and holds another 15 -20 gallons.
Over a time I have bought or made the equipment that you need. It is maturing all the time and I am learning along with it.
I do water changes of 100 litres about every other month and use various Kent additives in between.
To date it has cost me about £7000 and is worth every penny.

Future
My aim for now and the future is to make the tank as close to the natural reef as possible so that the animals/corals are not stressed in any way .
Well I hope you enjoy reading and looking at my reef.
Thanks Lenny.
