Hi,

Got these two clowns yesterday...

New shop had them down as perc's then said they might be amphiprion polymnus in other words saddle back's....

Might be the second but don't look like the pictures Ive seen...

Sorry the photo's arnt my best but they dont stay still for long.....

IMO, I would say it is a black variant of A Polymnus.

A batch of these came into my LFS from TMC a few weeks ago.

They look more like saddle-backs now than they did then.

Trouble is, with captive breeding, unless the parents stocks are switched round to prevent in-breeding, there could be all sorts of colour / pattern variations produced which wont definitively reflect their parentage.

think it is a black saddleback

black percula's white stripes looked different and finnage seems different as well....
I'm not sure....
found this percula ones on the net...looks diff from yours

Your fish are Saddlebacks for sure. The above fish arent Perc's either, they are Black False Percs Ocellaris. Come from The Northern Territory here in Oz.

over in my country ....a pair of mated black perculas cost ard $100 to $200 USD....

Reasonably common, but the Northern Territory is very isolated from the rest of the country and shipments arent as regular, as from say Queensland. There are a few hatcheries over here that are breeding them too.
