I saw this guy on Saturday night. Couldn't get a good photo but I will try if I ever see him again !
Honestly, its no wind up..........the butt end looks like a nem and the head looks like a slug, camouflaged to look like red algae.
It was actively feeding on the algae on the LR, with no visible external gills........so I guess it is some sort of Dorid slug
Has anyone seen one like this before ?.............and what are its chances of survival once the algae runs out ?????????

By the way...he's over 2 inches long !
Most Dorid nudi's I know of have external gills and bright colouration, so doesn't sound like one, though gills may be retracted. Id wise goona need a better picture(!!)lol
sorry, all i see is a blurrrrrrr, but then again i am staggering drunkenly and laughing hysterically

Oh yeah of little faith !!!!!!!!!
I did say it was a cr@p photo !!!! You just gotta look
But, it is there...........honest !
And no PP, I don't do motorbikes.
Probably need a faster shutter speed to catch a slug at full pelt.

Don't these things grow to about 2 feet long ????????? Just the job for your 8 footer !
By the way, MC Hammer looking the nuts and its not even fully out yet !!!!!!!!!
Even Norma is impressed! :D :D :D
i have 2 of these slugs, they are about 3 inches each, and are currently grazing at a rapid rate all the green and red algae off my back panel, is this a possitive sign? as i'm new to reef keeping, i am slightly concerned, although it is slime algae they are eating at present will they move onto some of the nicer coraline algae when they have finished?
where does your live rock originate?

Hello Craig,
The LR is from Kenya. The slug has only eaten algae so far...........but no signs of grazing on the coralline.
My main fear is that it will starve, mainly because of its size.
