when i bought this coral i was told it was a xenia but i am not sure. my pulsing xenia closes up into like a ball at night this one seems to shrink into a husk and it looks like it is sheading now. i need to know because it hasnt come out in 3 days. but if it is shedding skin this could be the reason please help

this is how its looking at the moment
i would say it is Briareum sp. i have one in my tank and it stands about 10 inches tall. it will somtimes take brineshrimp it is easy to keep but it does need good lighting.

will it be ok under 4t5 we have had it a while now and its been fine mabe its having a bad hair week ;)
Apart from the colour, it looks exactly like Giant Anthelia (Anthelia glauca) Mine was a light brown and I've not seen a mauve one but it lookes like that both open and closed.
Bob
four t5's should be fine. give it quite good water movement as well and it should be ok.
I'm going to go for clove polyp too.
Nick

I was thinking Clove Polyp, but then it don't half look like Xenia Elongata to me !! My eyes playing games??
I'm gonna go Anthelia on this one too, specially having the closed polyp shot.
I too would say Anthelia. Used to have one before the house move :(
