Whatever it is it's lovely and really shouldn't have provoked a slap! :D

Archy,

I've had a look through my Wrasse book but to no avail - it "looks" like it could be a Halichoeres genus but I'm not 100% sure - beautiful fish though.

One quick question, does the male have more elaborate fins than the female pictured?

thx for all replys , ive had a look at that link but couldnt find it there , the fins are the same on both fish , only differance being one fish is more duller than other, i will try and pop in to lfs some time over the weekend and ask what they got them in as, will also have a browes and see if i can find anything , could be there just same sex and one is better color than other, both are settled in tank ok , will post when i find out more
thx all

 after trawling through my Dr. Burgess Marine Atlas I also came up with Halichoeres garnoti - picture from fishbase.org is more like Archy's

Halichoeres garnoti (http://www.fishbase.org/Photos/PicturesSummary.cfm?StartRow=1&ID=3663&what=species)

Lovely fish as a juvenille and stunning as an adult too

The Google images are even better
