Promised to fit the Aqua-Medic Phosphate Filter for ages, got round to it today. For those who have asked, here is the photo-install.

Hello Andy,
thanks for showing us the photograph's
Do you know wether this filter is as good as a fluidiser or not?, as i have been debating which one to buy,

Peter.

Thanks for the photos - very useful.

Do you think that the phosphate-filter requires the flow of another PF1000? I was about to intall it with a small tee off the main recirc pump so that it will get just a trickle of flow. Or is that too small a flow? (another pump = more noise)

What do you think?

Tony

I have just noticed that, as far as I can tell, you are feeding the filter from the top. Would it not be better to feed it from the bottom so that it fluidized the media to an extent?

Sorry for jumping in  but do you think that this could be used as a fluidiser?, maybe for instance if you only filled it 1/2 or 3/4 full of media and then fed the water through with a 4 or 500l/ph pump, any ideas,

Peter.

What media is in it in the photo?

Hi to all
AFAIK, its not supposed to be a fluidiser, it comes full of antiphos. There are no filter pads inside it to allow the agent to fluidise.

When I flushed it out before fitting it, the media didn't fluidise, it just got wet - but you could try it.

Basically, its just a plastic tube, with hose barbs; but my son's Julian Sprung Phospate fluidiser is the same, so I guess it would work. Don't know what sort of pressure the tube could withstand though.

IMHO, if you tee off from the main PF1000 to feed it, there won't be enough flow for the main tank and your water won't go over the weir - it only just makes it as it is.

I fed it from the top, simply because it was easier to attach the hose there! Even with a PF1000 feeding it, there isn't a large amount of flow through it.

I used PF1000 because I know they are quiet - there are already 3 in the Perc90 and you can't hear them. If you used a bigger pump, there may not be room in the sump.
