Don't know about this particular grouper, but all groupers, as a family, will eat whatever can fit in their huge mouths.

Did you you not know what you were buying? It will eat anyhting smaller than what he is, so watch your smaller fish too!

The Miniatus Grouper, also known as the Miniata Grouper, Coral or Blue-Spot Rockcod, Coral Hind, and Coral Grouper, is a common and popular fish along the coral reefs of the Indo-Pacific, and it makes a most spectacular addition to a large home aquarium. In the wild, it can attain sizes up to 18", but tank specimens rarely exceed a foot in length.

The Miniatus Grouper is a large and very hardy fish which requires a large aquarium. It can be compatible with other fish provided they are too large to be eaten. It should not be trusted around invertebrates or small fish.
In the wild. this reef predator commonly attacks schools of reef-dwelling fish. In the aquarium, freeze-dried krill soaked in Selcon, feeder goldfish, or squid are acceptable.

Yes thanks phil for that , My bloomin book says its fine in aquaria as long as not with fish smaller than itself! the guy at fishshop said its okay with inverts .knew it needed big tank good filter system , tanks 8ft ,
So will it be okay with soft corals or do ya think not.

i reckon it will be ok with corals but any sort of shrimp, crab, fish i think will be at risk at some point. lovely looking fish though.

Will be fine with any sessile invert, also be warned any fish up to 3/4 of the hinds length will be at risk. It will often eat cleaner wrasse so not advisable to keep both, any crustacean inc. mantis shrimps at serious risk. An aggressive species esp to any fish invading its lair. Nevertheless second only to Regal angels in beauty to my mind, your a very lucky fishkeeper!

Thanks manta /juppy, yor right it is a good lookin fish thats what drew me , its orange with blue spots , sometimes red , yellow spots , it unhinges its jaw when it eats , tell you what this is 4" at mo , itll be scary when or if it gets to a foot , have to go with same size fish then , hope corals are okay with it ,, havent any in their yet , have to do some homework now .
