after trying to squeeze one more bit of kit onto my aqua 40 nano i managed to split one of the seems slightly giving a really slow leak. ive patched it but for a variety of reasons ive decided to start over:
1) dont like the patch job
2) want a sump to hide everything as it was starting to look a bit like a small tank in the middle of a pile of kit
3) i want a 'nem/clown biotype set up and 27l is just too small for a 'nem.
So here's the plan: an 18inch seabray cube tank with a full legnth wier housing a 1"return pipe and 2 1.5" overflows leading to a 14inch cube sump with a heater mce600 skimmer and an auto top up. should give a system volume of about 130l
return and circulation will be via an OR6500 coming up through the return and on a 'spray bar' round the whole top of the tank.
lighting will be via a single 70w halide (prob 14K and skip the actinics) built into the hood and im planning on building in 3 or 4 pc fans for cooling and a cold cathode moonlight.
The live rock and water will come straight out of my current tank so hopefully 'instant aquarium'
havent yet decided on bare bottom or SSB - any advise welcome!
The tank is now ready in my lfs so will post ome pics as soon as i pick it up!

went to pick up my tank today, unfortunately still no tank connectors (sulk) so left it at the shop (i want some help siliconing them in), dead impressed with the tank tho, not exactly what i expected - its come in 10mm glass for starters and the whole tank is 2ft high but with a 5inch trim/hood (you know what the seabray tanks look like) which gives me a 19" depth of water. my only slight concern is that the wier has 'teeth' at the top and bottom of it - oh well was debating going BB anyway, guess thats decided it!
just for some comedy value here are some pictures of my 'attemp' at a sump!
the plastic jar is to hold the top up water btw
