the start of a masterpiece this is the cabinet i am building to house my 92Lx24Wx28H tank it is comming along nicely i don't think the neighbours like me useing the power tools at night so have to take it steady.
there is room on the side cabinets to fit a co2 bottle the largest i can find because i hate changing thinks every week and there is room on the other side to fit a 200lt poly drum for ro top up water there is room in the lower front cabinets on the ends for a calcium reactor and all the electrics i have left room at one end of the cabinet under the tank for the chiller and kalkwasser reactor i al using 3 pump 1 for return which will also power the skimmer it is a 6800lph pump, i have a 18000lph pump for circultation during the day and i have a 10000lph pump to run 24hrs i am slowing the flow at night ? this may not be nessesary time will tell
i am using the same plumbing as simonj at reef eden with a few more outlets to accomodate for the extra size

this is the design of the filter which is currently under construction it worked out cheaper to get someone to make it than build it my self
i'll keep you posted as it progress's

http://www.ultimatereef.net/uploads/14-12-05%20085.jpg
this is the rear of the tank there you can see the 3 32mm return pipes and the metal halide unit it has 3x150 watt 20000k bulbs and 2 x 10000k daylight flures and there is still to be 2 x 4foot atinics installed
http://www.ultimatereef.net/uploads/14-12-05%20064.jpg
here is a pic of the ozone generator and the skimmer the skimmer is on powered by a 2000lph pump at the moment but i have a 4000lph pump on the way you can also see 1x 10000k syvania fluro for the dsp/fug there is also 1 more atinic to go in there
http://www.ultimatereef.net/uploads/14-12-05%20062.jpg
here is a full shot of the tank as you can see i have been doing a small amount of plumbing tryng to keep it minimal as i hate having tubes and wires running every were

http://www.ultimatereef.net/uploads/14-12-05%20063.jpg
there is still 100kg of live rock 50kg of salt a ph , mv , temp monitor on its way hopefully here before the weekend
Nice looking setup
I'd invest in some salifert test kits if I where you I have the master test kit that you have and it's unreliable to say the least!
As above post....Ditch the Hagen Master test kit, IME it's not very good. Use Salifert!
looking awesome there, coupla questions.
1) where did you get the tank made?
2) can you post a pic of your overflows from the inside?
3) does your chiller vent to the outside in some way?
4) what are the dimensions of that tank?
5) how will you perform water changes?
:thanx:
I've had dodgy Salifert kits, phosphate and magnesium.
1) where did you get the tank made?
unless you are going to get a tank shipped from Australia then i guess its irrelevant.
FWIW i checked his location when i saw the Resun chiller :D
craig
Nice setup.
You holding the next UR meet? All expenses paid? :whistling:
scoob the3 tank was made by a person in brisbane australia
the chiller does vent to the outside as you can see there is plastic sheets around the rear of the cabinet tere is a section that hasn't got it that is were the chiller is
i feel i should have got a forth overflow as only 3 seemd to make a fare bit of noise
http://www.ultimatereef.net/uploads/14-12-05%20076.jpg
the dimensions are 92x24x28 the sump is 60x16x16
there is still another pumpon it's way wich will have a wave maker on it there will be a tape on the plubing to remove the water and there will be a 200lt plastic drum in my garage to hold natural sea wateri am only using premix salt for the initial startup

 i thought those bungalows looked very 'neighbours' in the tank reflection.
cheers for the pic of the overflows. how far below the water line are they sighted? do they have taps should you wish to shut off the flow.
no there is no taps the water come to the top of them i drilled some holes in the top of the white pvc pipes to allow air to enter and it got rid of the slupping noise
well finally after a 6 hour drive to the coast and back i got some substrate
it ranges from .5-4 mm and it came from a sretch off beach along the coral sea
it is very nice looking shell grit as my father called iti also got some fine sand for the dsb
here is a pic with the subsrate and the rock finally put in
http://www.ultimatereef.net/uploads/18-12-05%20010.jpg
well here is a part of the dsb it has the sand then and fine layer of shell grit then a bunch of live rock ruble from the bottom of a prop tank at the coast
http://www.ultimatereef.net/uploads/18-12-05%20012.jpg
here are the results from it's first tests
ammonia 0.1
n02 0.1
n03 7
ph 8.5
kh 90mg/l
calcium 560 < not to sure about this one seems a bit high what to you think
well any comment welcome
and you be greatly appreciated
also any advise that can be givin would be takin with open arms
Is it me, or have you got a coke bottle in your tank?
Calcium is a little high. May be worth checking it again to be sure.
pH is a little on the high side as well.
yes it is a coke bottle i cut the bottom off and filled it wil filter wool to get a bit of debre out

I would shove a bit more pipe onto that white PVC then and get it under water for the return.. See if that helps a little. Will also reduce the noise.
Looks like you need to make some kind of bubble trap for the sump?
Are you going to have a DSB in the sump and in the main tank?
i have a dsb in the sump and just over 200 pounds of live rock in the main tank i wil see how that goes for a while but it is hard to come buy sand were i am as i am over 3 hours from the beach
i also have some calupera to put in there just have to get it from a guy

well damn i finally got a fish well not really a fish i got a snowflake moray and they damn thing jumped out last night found him when i got home from work never even got to take a photo
eels are notorious escape artists, you'll need a tight fitting lid if you want to keep one.
I like the look of the tank, quite natural and different to the run of the mill.
