yes it seems brighter but you only notice at night when its dark if you know what i mean.
the lights hang over a bit but this was going quite cheap so i just bought it and hoped for the best.

it does overhang slightly but remember if you bought a 3ft unit then the bulbs would have been 2footers or so and wouldnt have been powerfull enough

you could probably use silver elephant or gaffer tap to cover up the ends of the bulbs( the acrylic/glass not the tubes themselves) that are overhanging to stop the light spill at the sides of the tank

yes afraid so iam going to have a go at some of it tomorrow with kalk but iam not sure how much to mix up as last time i did this i mixed quite a bit with water and would not go through saringe
ive been told to use joice juice but as this is quite expensive iam trying to keep cost down and already have kalk in tub.
so any ideas on this would be appriciated very much.
thanks fran

I'm not sure about kalk mix.

Mind you I have had my reef tank for coming up to 2 years now and have been very lucky. I never had one Aiptasia in my tank, I qurantine my new arrivals including live rock and inverts so that I can check for Aiptasia etc before they get released into the main tank.

I've heard that some people boil RO water and put it into a syringe and then squirt the Aiptasia, not sure if that works but worth a try.

I know the feeling about costs when it comes to marine tanks, I've been moaned at a number of times, especially whenever I visit a marine shop and never come out empty handed.

Good luck with your Aiptasia battle.

joes juice i good but dont get it on anthing else as it will bleach it! ive also used the tmc stuff in the past but its not a good IMO because you have to inject into the Aiptasia , where as with the joes juice you just put it onto the mouth area. good luck with you battle i had one similar.

the light is nice too
