View Full Version : Lighting Question
Would a 400w Lumenarc III be enough light for an sps tank with a 3'x3' surface area and 27" deep? I was thinking of using an ice cap ballast and a XM 10k bulb supplimented with some actinics.
Does the Lumenarc III have to be enclosed and have some sort of UV pretection glass?
Or should I be looking at some other kind of lighting? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanx

Hi, I would say that the Lumenarc reflector would be ideal for that size tank.
The Lumenarc gives the best spread of light of any reflector on the market.
It doesnt have any cover glass. This style of reflector makes use of single ended lamps, so they dont actually need glass to reduce UV (as with DE lamps), so the glass would be for protection only should you wish to add some.
The reflector can be mounted onto the wall behind the tank with the supplied bracket, or hung above in the traditional fashion.
