This is one of my nano reefs tanks. I set this up in a bar I frequent in Soho in London near to where I work. It has been going since January - had one problem at the end of May when the air conditioning got switched off on a Sunday when they are not open and it happened to be a VERY hot day. The tank temp reached 93.8 F (34.3 C) and I lost some stock. Plenty of water changes meant I managed to save quite a bit but it has taken a while to fully recover.
The tank is an LAC R538 (nominal capacity about 50 l (11 gallon) with the stock filter removed (not SW safe) and the stock lighting (8w) removed and replaced with 2 x 18w compact T5s. There is a H.O.B. filter for carbon/polyfilter, an internal powerhead with rotating flow nozzle and a small pump to push water to the refugium. The green pipe at the top is supplying water to the refugium - I have managed to find a right angle bend for the pipe work which will make this look a lot tidier.
The refugium is a 15l hexagon tank with two drilled returns back to the display tank and it is chock full of live rock. This is the black covered tank to the left of the picture below, behind the leaflets. It is currently lit 24/7 with a 15w incandesent lamp which will be replaced very shortly with a 9w compact lamp to give better growth. The auto feeder sits on the top of this so that food is circulated round the tank by the returning water.
Forgot to add that there is a Tunze auto top up on this as well.
