Hi
Due to the weight of the 150w & 250w is it possible to strip them down so only the reflectors and lamp holders are fitted in the canopy?
If so, what is the maximum length of cable you can use between the lamp and ballast?

Thanx,
Mark

Hi Simon Garrett has done this on hes own setup  he shows diagrams on his own site so it can be done but I also would like to know the maximum length of cable you can use between the lamp and ballast?

Cheers,

Rich

I have remote ballasts on my set-up due to weight issues, Harry Hird advises not to have more than 2 metres of cable between ballast and light.

Hi All,
The control gear in our Aquabays can be removed and located within a suitable vented enclosure and we are aware this has been carried out in many cases.....but..... we strongly advise this is carried out by a qualified electrician only. We offer a 400w version as a standard product with a remote enclosure 4mts from the Light Head. The capacitors we use in all Aquabays allow the control gear to be used safely and reliably up to 5 mts from the lamp if so required but the cable used would have to be correctly rated for this application. The majority of Lowbay Lights available today are produced for use with the control gear within the light unit and we strongly recommend advice is sought for suitability of components before carrying out any changes.
One further option is to purchase a complete ballast and a reflector with a 4mtr cable from our site www.growlighting.co.uk Or you could wait a few a few months untill we have a range of both Magnetic and Electronic Ballasts to be used with a range of Spiderlight or Luminarc Reflectors and large selection of Marine Lamp options.
